Dead mobo? Help diagnose

I think had a PSU die on me last night. I turned on the PC and it ran a for 3 seconds and then shut off. I tried to power back on...nothin but silence. A strange odor spread amongst the room, it came from the back of teh PSU. I there concluded a dead PSU.

I borrowed a working PSU from a friend, hooked it up and tried to power on. Did same thing, ran for 3 seconds, then shutoff. I tried powering on again...silence. No LED lights or anything. I brought the PC next door and hooked my bro's working PSU into mine. Powered up...this time, no 3 seconds of activity. I got confused and sort of worried, thought i broke two other PSUs. I hooked back up my bro's PSU into his PC and it worked great. My friend's PSU worked fine in another PC too.

Conclusion = dead mobo? Is it possible that when the original PSU burnt up it broke the mobo too? argh

Very possible. I just recently had one where the psu died and fried the motherboard, video card, and hard drive as well. When it died, the room filled with that "is-something-burning?" smell. 🙁
You might want to check out your other components as well. Good luck.
