i've been looking for the $25 off $75... where do i get it? thanks...

Got it to work this time. I think the key is to not even try mentioning the local Office Depot ad....just try to PM to Staples.

I told her I wanted to try and do a PM. She said to what store and I said Staples. I gave her the OD item number and she said she's been doing quite a few order on that drive today. She PM'd the drive to $109.94 and then let me use the $25 off $75 coupon. Good luck.

That sounds like a good idea. Thanks, I'll give it another try.

No dice. They won't match a special sale price or close-out price. The CSR phone Staples and verified that this was a limited/special sale price so no price match.

just to let you all know, the coupon code that starts with 5062XXXX expired on 3/31 so do not use that one when you call in.

i was able to get one for $90.43 including tax and shipping. she said she could not pricematch staples.com because another department handled internet pricematching. she also didn't have a circular and couldn't pricematch via the circular for me. however i asked her to look it up online to see what the current price was and she gave me the discounted price. she also was able to give me the $25 off $75 discount. coolbeans. :)

she was grouchy though. this seems to be a trend in CSR's from officemax and officedepot. the ones from staples are usually a little better.

thanks AT! gonna replace my 40 gig maxtor. :)

peace!

Don

Go figure. I had all but given up on Office Depot, as they wouldn't match the ad price on-line (tried 4 times this afternoon), nor accept the $25 coupon when I went to the B&M. In despiration tonight I called to see about a Staples PM. She said no, but then for some reason quoted me the $108.53 price. Got it for $89.59 out the door ($59.59 AR). OD is a nightmare.

Thank you MysticMan1 for the hot tip.

for some reason, it worked out for me fine. i've been lookin' for a nice rebate to go along w/ the coupon to get a HD cheap and it finally showed up. so i got this one. i only had to go through 2 CSR's. i guess it's all luck w/ the CSR's or what time you call in.

any chance this rebate will be denied because the form doesn't include officedepot.com? thats the only thing worrying me right now.

Read the rebate...it doesn't even specify OfficeDepot.com, it just says "Office Depot" - you'll be fine.

I received the invoice at the store, and if you want - you can login to OfficeDepot.com with your account and print out the receipt there, that should be sufficient "OfficeDepot.com" evidence for your rebate if you think it will help you.

My thought was it would be better to NOT have OfficeDepot.com since a lot of these CSRs have been complaining and saying no because it was "in-store only" supposedly...I dunno. Send both receipts. :)

I'm in on this one. Just went to the OD in Sanford, FL. Looked like they had another 7 or 8 drives at least. I printed the confirmation of referral ID off the Internet and hand wrote the coupon code for the $25 of $75. The clerk had to ask the supervisor how to key it into the cash register but never once hesitated about doing it.

Sales tax is 7% in FL so I was out the door for less than $90 with $30 rebate offer in hand. Not bad at all considering it is an 8MB cache drive. I was needing a comparatively high performance boot drive for my media server...this fits the bill.

The only downside is that it is "only" an 80GB drive. Sheesh...how times change. A year ago, it would never have entered my mind that an 80GB drive would so quickly be considered a small to moderate capacity drive.

This might be a dumb question but I'm wanting to get a 2nd drive to put in a dell poweredge 1400sc server. It's only going to be used for backups. I've seen several posts about 7200rpm drives making the case too hot. If this will only used for like 45mins/day, will I run into that problem? The OS is NT 4.0 Server...do most of these new hard drives "spin down" if they haven't been used for a while? If so, it seems like I'd be safe.

thanks!

Another thing that sometimes works is the print out your on-line order page showing the price and the $25 off coupon and the coupon code, take the print out to the store and tell them you tried to order on-line for in-store pick-up but you couldn't get the $108.53 price to show on the web site, so can they do it in the store and let you use the coupon code. This has worked before.

Also some people are having success buying this same Maxtor 80GB hard drive from Staples by having Staples PM the price at Fry's stores where it's selling for $99.99 before a $30 rebate, Staples price is $109.98 with a $30 MIR, use a $20 off $100 Staples coupon, final total would be $49.99] + taxes

Overheating of current 7200RPM IDE drives is not as severe today nor the same as compared to 7200 RPM SCSI drives, especially those manufactured only a couple of years ago. However, once you start stacking any drives in close proximity to each other, you need to start thinking about ways to keep air moving and prevent heat getting trapped between the drives. You probably wouldn't need additional cooling if there is at least an open bay, below and above the drive and the case is well vented.

I think that that is a Power Management setting in the motherboard's BIOS.

For me the drive showed up at $139.99. However, when I selected in store pick-up it dropped to $108.53. With coupon and tax I paid $88.12. After rebate = $53.12. Sweet deal.

No problem. No need to call CSR's To bad this is a 1 year warrnaty drive.

Thanks MysticMan1

It must've changed because I selected in-store pickup yesterday and the price didn't adjust. I went ahead and placed another order and I'm going to cancel my first order when I visit the store tomorrow.

I finally got tired of calling a CSR so I went for the in-store pickup and got it.

Yeah the web site's sorta been fixed. If you select in store pickup, price does drop to $108.53. However, I couldn't use the $25 off $75 because I've used it before, and apparently the web site knows that. However, if you go to Ebates (for anyone else having this problem) and click thru there, you get a $20 off $75 coupon code applied. So my bottom line is $92.51 (includes tax) - $30 MIR = $62.51. Good deal. Thanks MysticMan.

You might try erasing your Office Depot cookies to allow the coupon for this sale.

I called today and the first rep I got gave me the $108 price. No need to PM. Ended up being 88.75, 58.75 AR. I now have it.

Thanks!

Hey All,
Where in the checkout process do you enter the coupon code? I seem to be missing this step.
Thanks,
RCraig

Never mind. Emptied cart, logged out and started from the beginning without signing in first. Found the place.

If you're using the old OD site, go here to enter the coupon code. I think on the new site you can enter it as you check out.

I did the instore pickup and got it for $83.53 with no problem, but the store called me and said they wouldn't give it to me without the actual coupon. Has anybody been able to get the $108.53 price for delivery?
