dead mac mini, trying to revive

hey all,

I am trying to revive an older mac mini 1.5ghz core solo, one day it just stopped working. Last night I did a pmu reset, and when I do that the system turns on with fan on high speed. It does not turn off or go slower, its just constant until I manually power down the system. That gave me some hope, although I still could not boot the system normally. Then I did a smc reset, but nothing happens after that, the system simply does not boot.

Any idea how I can troubleshoot this further?

IIRC, the older Mac Minis had socketed CPUs, so replacing the logic board should be a little cheaper

I said 'should', but that blows that theory out of the water. I couldn't even find them on ebay.

OP, at that point, if you are seriously consider buying that, then just buy a refurbed newer Mini instead.

I found one. It was broken, "for parts." They wanted $249.
