DEAD: Lost Planet Extreme Condition $4.99 on Steam, 75% off

Too bad it isn't the Colonies edition, but it looks like Steam doesn't carry that version. Great price, though.

I can't help but think that Lost Planet was held to a lesser standard by most reviewers as the first "native" DX10 game.

I don't recall anything memorable about it beyond that. Good price though.

It had a Japenese quirkiness that I enjoyed, hopping in mechs, just the general atmosphere of the game.

Game was hard as balls about halfway through too.

from wikipedia

Lost Planet: Colonies is a gold edition version of Extreme Condition for the Xbox 360 and PC. The game includes new multiplayer maps, a Human vs Akrid multiplayer mode, and a selection of new multiplayer characters and weapons.

Colonies also introduces four new single-player modes: Score Attack (points are given for each kill dependent on kill type and weapon used, akin to the co-op mode in Halo 3), Time Trial Battle Mode (similar to the Arcade mode of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), first person shooter mode, and Unlimited Mode (which must be unlocked). The game also includes cross-platform play between Xbox Live and Games for Windows - Live users. The Colonies edition is not compatible with the original Lost Planet save games or multiplayer game, so players of each release may only play with others who have the same release.

No mid mission save apparantly. Which means no sale here.

Obviously this game has not had it's proper consolectomy!

I have the standard edition and it will save in them middle of a mission if I quit...

I would have (mistakenly) jumped on this if it hadn't been for your post. thanks...

I tried the demo for about 10 minutes and it felt clunky. They were bold enough to leave the Xbox 360 buttons in the HUD whenever you could pick up or use something. Overall it's not fluid at all -- Star Wars Battlefront has a better implementation of the third person views and first person views than this. Not worth $5.

is this a gamepad game or can i enjoy with mouse+keyboard?

It's totally obvious it's meant to be used with a 360 gamepad when you play it. There's map posts you have to repeatedly hit a key to activate, which is fine on a gamepad, but is ill-suited to keyboard play... should have made it so you hold down the key if using keyboard.

I'm in the process of downloading the game. The demo was fair enough when I played it awhile back, but it didn't scream "Pay fifty dollars for the full game."

so hey, Capcom - how's about some Dead Rising love?

I think I read that GFW Live and Steam are fundamentally incompatible, and that the Colonies edition switched from Steam to GFW Live. *shrugs*
