There's plenty of great user made content out for L4D, and there will be beyond the release of L4D2. There's no reason NOT to pick this up IMO, especially given the very real possibility that Valve may offer some sort of integration between the 2 titles as far as characters.

It is, but it's fairly short, at least for coop, which is what I play L4D for.

There are some kickass user made campaigns like Dead City, Escape from Toronto, and Night Terrors tho. At this point, you have probably 8-10 full, polished L4D campaigns to play total, with more coming.
 
The worst part about l4d is waiting in a lobby. Games take forever to start, ESPECIALLY if you are trying to play with friends.

Says on Steam that it's 3 days, so I'm guessing it'll be over on Friday. I would buy it no later than tomorrow morning to be on the safe side, Valve can be pretty wacky with timeframes.

Hey, if anyones interested in helping everyone else out, you can buy the 4 pack of the game and gift out the other 3 games. if you split it evenly it comes out to $11.25 per game copy, which is dirt cheap.

I would like to get this but I have a problem with my steam account.
When the orange box came out I got it and set up steam. ok Username and Password.
I am set. BUT I could not play the game, seems the servers were down. WTF I buy a game and get it home
install go thru all this crap and can't play it because their servers are down. I SCREAMED SO LOUD I can't believe none of you heard me.
IT seems that there is a setting to allow you to play offline ( THIS to me is stupid and it should be click here to play online ) but this is only available when you are on the server, but anyway I blew up.
I have not been on a steam game since and curse them when ever I got the change from that day till now.

But being the sport I am (ROFL) I will give them one more try. But I have a new computer and I have no idea what my username and password is.
Can I get this from the old computer or ?
start a new account?
reinstall orange box and start again or ?

So... you haven't played the Orange Box? It's good.

Your username is your email address. I'm pretty sure there's some capability to email or reset your password. Install steam [from the website], and try that.

I haven't had any issues with Steam being down except occasionally.

Essentially, Steam is a model for DRM, but one that offers some pluses in addition to some minuses. Assuming you can login, you'll be able to download and play the source game anywhere you want. I haven't personally used the "Play Offline" feature of Steam.
 
This is almost over, probably not going to last past today, so if you were thinking of waiting til the last minute, it's probably almost here.
 
thought crash course dlc was gonna be a complete campaign, but it's just a shor-ish map...oh well off to play the mods
 
Heh, maybe I'll buy another copy just so I can mess with people. It would be hilarious to join an expert game and whoop everyone's butt in score while I'm getting achievements out the yingyang. Then I can comment on how I thought the game would be harder while I am picking up their incap'ed asses.

Could you imagine getting Unbreakable, Stand Tall, Zombicidal Maniac & Akimbo Assassin all at once? That would freak people out.

You can actually reset all your achivements in L4D.

Without entering any server, write in console:
sv_cheats 1
achievement_reset_all
sv_cheats 0
