Dead Laptop

A friend of my wife has an old Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop that is stone dead. There is absolutely no electricity running through the machine. The plug itself seems to be working, the green LED still lights up on the transformer when you plug it in. Is there a fuse in these laptops somewhere that may be blown. Any other likely reasons why it be totally dead like this? Thanks!

try this...

Get a volt meter, and check the battery terminals with the cord plugged in to make sure voltage is getting through the system good. If it is, check the ram and the cpu to make sure they're good.

Best I can think of for an intial troubleshooting step. You may also check the cmos backup battery, and/or try to clear the bios.
