The publisher sent one version to steam, and another version to the DVD replicators.

The version you buy at wal-mart is going to be different then what you download from steam.
It's as Steamwork game, so whatever is installed from the disk of the retail versions gets updated to Steam's current version before you can play it.

People on the steam forums are saying the store bought version is not updating.

Maybe when the boxed edition does a version check, the boxed edition says its newer then the steam version, so it does not update?

soooo, should I buy this game or no?

seriously why do i need to wait til post 139 to get this answer.

I'll go ahead and say no, I did buy the game and feel that it doesn't have a 50 dollar feel to it, maybe 19.00 or so, even then that would be pretty generous at this point.

Thank you this is what i wanted to know instead of reading god knows how many posts which have to do with marketing..

Seriously people...

Keep on topic.

Keep things to the game so people like me can figure out if its worth buying or not due to content/bugs/glitches... not marketing. 😡

I'm thinking about picking it up since both Amazon and Gamersgate have the PC digital version for $40 and it piques my interest. But I can't tell if the Youtube videos for the PC are of the dev version or final 😛 Still at work, so Youtube is about the only thing I have access to related to games.

The game actually looks really good once you tamper with the settings file, I have no idea why the in game video settings are so limited, this was obviously designed with consoles in mind.

After the recent 73.3mb patch the stuttering issues have been fixed and I am loving the feel of this game so far. They've also tweaked the AI a little bit so you can't just walk right past half the zombies in the game lol

NO KIDDING.
Tuesday night. I was a Zombie Killing GOD.
Wednesday night. OWNAGE. And of COUSRE the first three times the "Semi Boss Zombie" killed me, I was like wait, I musta slipped with my mouse... Or I missed a key-stroke.
:hmm:

WAIT... IT'S I STINK!!!!! LOL

this looks like it will be a steal at $15-20 come Christmas, and after all the patches/mods.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Wait for a sale. I have so many unplayed or unfinished games on my PC as it is so I can wait for a while and catch it on sale.

I read on the forums that they merely patched the dev build that was put out and they're going to push out the regular build in a patch friday.

Also on the forums some guy said he completed the game in 12 hours or so avoiding the side quests.
