EXPIRED. 30% off select Z87 motherboards (~13 boards) @ Newegg till Nov 1st (Oct 24th email).
Promo code: EMCWPHF93 (code working again Oct 29th @ 8pm est).

Biostar Hi-Fi Z87X board looks good & no rebate needed. If you get older stock you might need a bios update for the recent Haswell refresh LGA 1150 chips. Pentium G3258 would probably boot ok on an older bios. Here are the 3 least expensive models:

$55.99 Shipped. Back in stock Oct 28th. Out of Stock Oct 26th.
BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z87X 3D LGA 1150. Full ATX with 6 phase (doubled) VRM's. 8X-8X Crossfire support. Bios available for Pentium G3258 etc..
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138380

$52.99 free shipping now, but price raised $10. Was $51.66 shipped AR ($10).
MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX. 8X-4X CF.
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130695

$34.66 shipped AR ($20), or less with Shoprunner. Bios available for Pentium G3258 etc..
ECS Z87H3-M(V1.0) LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. 8X-4X CF.

I saw that deal myself. Hard to beat that price. You give up having M.2 and sata express with Z87 versus a Z97, which may matter to some buyers

You would pay over double to get the Z97 version of this board

You guys find much of a difference in overclocking a Z87 versus a Z97 chipset?

Marking this deal "UNDEAD" "dead". The coupon is still on the Newegg item pages (Biostar Hi-Fi Z87X), and the code started working again. The discount code was bad for a while when I tested it earlier.

Hurry if you want one, and try pestering Newegg customer service.
You might get a special one-time courtesy discount, valued customer, etc. etc..

"+ 30% off w/ promo code EMCWPHF93, limited offer"

Supposed to expire 11:59PM 10/31 "or sooner based on fund availability."

After waiting for an hour on a chat window, CS told me the promo is only for those who sign up for their e mail alerts. I must have cancelled my alerts some time in the past, so it showed me as unable. The CS rep reinstated me and after a few more hours waiting for the system to catch up, I was able to get the promo to work. Now I need to drive to Fry's to get the $55 G3258 and I'm back in business.

Glad the deal worked out for you.
Code seems to be working again.
Seems like the code is dead now, unless you get CS help.

that's a heck of a deal. The G3258 for 55.00, and the Biostar BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z87X for 56.00 . Wow.. That board looks to have a good quality VRM

BTW, Amazon had matched the Fry's G3258 price last I knew.

I thought so too, but it is currently showing $69 at Amazon. Do they have a price match feature?

Amazon is always playing with prices. Go for the Fry's deal, or wait for the next deal (Black Friday etc).

Biostar BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z87X is overkill for a G3258 dual core (but ready for a quad someday). I think almost any overclockable rig can get most of the speed out of a G3258. Doing 4.7 GHz in an MSI PC Mate Z97 (ongoing Microcenter $90AR deal). Good G3258's seem to top out around 4.5-4.8 on air, and the rare 5 GHz guys are on crazy high volts & water.

Yeah, if I can't get to Fry's in time, I'll just wait. I know I don't need a Z87 board, but the price is right and I am a late adopter so I'll use it again with my next CPU once the Haswells come down in price. The Z87/G3258 combo is an upgrade to a Athlon Phenom II X4 805 that is still going strong, I'm just in the mood to do some overclocking again.

Should one assume these *87 boards ship with a bios that doesn't support Haswell-R?

EDIT: FWIW I just picked up an ASRock Z87M Extreme4 at my local Micro Center and it had the latest bios that supports Haswell-R. The box had a "New Version" sticker on it. I've read reports to the contrary, so I guess you should plan to have a contingency if you are jumping straight to a Haswell-R with a *87 board.

The Biostar page for the Hi-Fi Z87X 3D says Ver. 5.x supports the i5-4690K. My buddy got his today, and it's a version 5.2. So he should be OK with the refresh
