Just got mine

SATA Power
SATA Data
Power cable
Driver CD
HSF

Some minor scuff on the front but who cares, this is a hell of a deal anyways. I also have the ZT AMD 3000+ 512/120 DVD/R sticker. Most definately a demo unit on display. Very tiny bit of dust on the fan blase so I'm going to bring it to work and blow it out. Take the mobo out and put some AS under the chipset heatsink too 🙂

Yeah just a tad but no worries for me. Every HSF I've ever used, once you put thermal goop on there, you always have a trace left. I just reapply AS and go with it.

Use alcohol (the mediciney stuff, not the drinking stuff) when you clean the HSF. It cleans up good.

well mine sucked, sticker and front bezel retainers broken on one side..

the suxors

residue fo hsf

wonder if bisostar would send me a NON CISNET bezel

jC

😉 Just got mine today. Hope that everything goes well.

I am installing a sempron 2600+.

Any suggestions or comments?

Go easy on the HDD insertion, for some reason mine was giving quite a bit of resistance, not sure if my drive is ever going to come back out of it heh. I think it's probably because something wasn't lined up quite right.
Running 2800 A64, BENQ DVD 16X, 1x512 Corsair XMS (Will add the other tommorow), one GFMX440, 100GB WD HDD.
I'm going to try putting in a larger videocard and see if it will even boot.(6800)...

BTW, they are OOS now.

Yeah, I just checked my bank account and only one was billed. The funny thing is that the order confirmation they sent me said:

You're talking about for AS and similar compounds, right? There was so little I didn't bother, but my problem in the past has been with the pinkish? gummy-type OEM compounds that came on stock heatsinks. As I recall, neither alcohol nor acetone helped me very much on that stuff. I'm not 100% sure I used alcohol, but I know acetone was not very useful.

That's odd. I don't have to do that. See if you can upgrade the latest version of the bios as well. I did it and now, I get the via serial adaptor initialized upon startup as well.

I had the 9800Pro in there but there was a problem with the card. Whenever I would load the driver for the card, the picture would go black. I exchanged it for a 6600GT. Right now I have a FX5200 in it and the thing is crusing along fine.
Oh and thanks for the reply about the HSF and thermal compound. Mine didnt have anything on it. In fact when I took the HSF out, there was a piece of foam so it was brand new I guess. Doesnt matter tho as long as it works.

Anybody know if there is a BIOS available for this that includes RAM dividers? I took mine up to 215 HTT so far with no problem, but I'm not sure if that is independent of RAM and AGP at this point.

Haven't powered mine up yet because I'm too lazy to take my current chip out to replace my whole rig to A8N-SLI Deluxe. It was a pita getting to the chipset heatsink but I applied some Ceramique. Noticed also that the SATA is provided by VIA, not the chipset. Has anyone tried installing Windows without having to load SATA drivers? Also I noticed a bezel clip was broken on mine. No biggie, a little hot glue keeps it on fine.

If anyone is trying to get to their chipset heatsink here's how:
1: Remove all components like fans and heatsink (duh!)
2: Remove front bezel via 4 clips. Also unscrew all mobo screws (5 or 6) and unscrew 4 tiny screws on the front and two on the front's underside.
3: Carefully tug and slide out metal piece keeping front ports up. I think it gets a little caught up on the firewire port.
4: Get a long, flat, non-abrasive object. Personally I wrapped a few rounds of paper on the end of a flathead. You're going to need to poke under where the size covers go on. The mobo is held onto the case by thermal adhesive pads.
5: After you feel the board give way and not be stuck to the thermal pads anymore, slide it out the front (again, carefully).

You probably won't be able to take the whole board out but it's good enough to get to your heatsink and apply your goo of choice. Simply reverse the process to put it back in.

zoiks, where did you get the latest BIOS and how did you install it? I haven't been able to find anything very recent, but if I can, does that Winflash utility work pretty well?

😉 Downloaded latest drivers and bios from BioStar. Everything is working GREAT!!!

Well I went ahead and dropped in my 6800 OC BFG, to my suprise the system boots, I'm able to run BF2, played for about 15 minutes @ 1024x768 with some high/medium settings, it did stutter occasionally. Tried to run 3dmark 05 but getting reboots occasionally. Are you guys running the drivers from biostar's website? (Chipset?)

Btw I couldn't get this rig to post with 1GB Corsair value ram 3200, running with some Corsair xms 3200/2700 512's.

You can download the windows flash utility and bios from biostar.com.tw. The bios file you download is some other extension other than bin and you might have to force the utility to use it.

I'm using the drivers from Nvidia and not Biostar.
Corsair Value works fine for me. I'm using 2 sticks of 1gb each. The only problem that I've had is that Mandriva Linux 10.2 doesnt detect the ethernet card (Realtek) built on the board for some reason and its giving me grief.

Yeah just tried the one's from Nvidia and it's still a little shaky. My guess is possibly the beta nvidia drivers (that come with BF2) that I'm using but not sure yet. Guess I need to tryout another program for RL performance.

Edit: or the 200w ps 🙂 15a pushing that 12v.

Yeah, I used the Winflash that was on the driver CD and the .bs file for the most "recent" BIOS on the website. I was just hoping that they had come out with something since then.

I'm still using the drivers from the CD, might try the latest nVidia and see if it makes any difference. I'm also using 2 sticks of Corsair 512MB Valueram, no probs. There's got to be a way to get a divider on this board though! There's like a RAM lock or something, but it's not the same.

I am very surprised that not one of these has shown up on ebay. I figured that it would be a quick way to make at least $100 a pop.

Personal use for me 🙂 I'm mostlikely going to dual boot this with XP and Ubuntu so I can learn how to play with Linux some

Waiting for an NEC 3520a to come in.

3000+ Newcastle
NEC 3520a
512MB
GeForce 2 (until I figure out something with the whole tv tuner and real video card situation)
WD 200GB IDE
WD 200GB SATA

yea, that'd be great if any one of us got more than one to sell. unfortunately the single units each of us got are so nice we'd be pretty stupid to sell them 😉

Yea, I was intending to sell mine, but it is just sooo nice. I was really impressed when I opened the box!

Dang... Add me to the list of people who planned on selling it and then decided not to.
This little thing is SWEET. Looks like its all aluminum?

As a side note, does anyone know how to get the sticker goo off the side of the case without taking off the nice finish?

Jay

PS. I got case/board/PSU, HSF, driver CD, SATA power/signal cables, powercable, and some screws.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww damnit! Damnit damnit damnit damnit!

Hoping I can get support through Biostar as opposed to Z-buy. I want a return, not a refund.
