So what's the deal, why so cheap? IBM has the same lappy for $2664 as this place has for $999...there's gotta be some kinda catch, that's $1700 off...

For those with T20,21,22,23 laptops buy yourself a T30 battery. It has an extra 0.4mAh...about %10-20 capacity.....(normal T2x batteries are either 3.6 or 4.0 mHa battery)

My company uses IBM for 99% of it's laptop fleet....ocassionaly we get a Toshibia, Dell, or other brand in....always a mistake....they never last.

I'm currently using a IBM 600x (P3-650mhz 576mb-RAM) because of the docking station....extra NIC, 64mb PCI video card for games, SCSI to my 4-stack of 16x scsi cd-burners, DVD burner in the dock, and a DVD/CDRW combo drive in laptop.....40gb 5400rpm IBM travelstar drive of course. (No...I'm not kidding)

I've passed up on T2x and the T30 laptops due to lack of features. The new T40's are nice however....I will probably just dump my scsi stuff to a desktop pc nearby and get a new T40 laptop..... If I can get my way.....maybe

THIS model......

I just checked IBMs website too, and I agree, why so cheap at PC Connection?

arg, please hurry and buy up their stock so i'm not tempted anymore :(

40GB HD, internal WiFi, 3 year warranty, free shipping, and the fact that it's brand new make this a smoking deal

it's even cheaper than used prices on eBay.

Channel management. The pc industry is going nowhere fast but they need to protect the integrity of the channel, so they dump their inventory elsewhere.

Anyone know of any nationwide or east coast retail stores who sell the T23 or any IBM Thinkpads, so I can take a look at one before ordering online? :)

Datavision (?), I think, has the T23 and T30 in stock and on display. There's one on Fifth Ave and 30-something street in Manhattan.

I must admit, that this is a great deal. I saw a deal for a T40 with 1.5ghz Centrino package a while back at PCMall for $1,600, and almost jumped on it. They have some great deals. I bought my Apple Powerbook there. I used to have a T20 (which got stolent), and I can vouch for the quality of these systems. I can say, without any doubt, that IBM, and Apple laptops are alone in quality when it comes to laptops. I've used many others, and they just don't even compare. I'm sure you can get more features in a Dell laptop for about the same amount of money, but that's like saying that you got GPS Navigation in a Honda Accord, as opposed to buying a Mercedes without one. :)

Would the built in wirelss adapter work decent with a dlink 614+ wireless router, say through one wall or so?

Eh, I'm not following you here...what do you mean by channel management?

Great deal on a great computer -- I've owned five Tpads (three are now 'inherited' by my college kids), and all are literally workhorses -- they just rarely break. I've owned Dells, Compaqs, Sonys and NECS -- I doubt I'll buy anything but a Thinkpad.... Nice Find

Yes. It comes with 802.11b internal adapter....which is completely compatible with your 802.11b D-link 614+

My folks have a T30 laptop and a Dlink 614+ router...works like a charm.
