Would anyone be so kind as to tell me how to use the numbers on the lower part of some of the keys? Like the U, I, O, P, J... they have numbers, how the heck do you use em ;)

Thanks

Function Key?
The NumLock function gets you to those characters. Hit Shift+ScrLk to turn it on/off.

To use the "embedded" keypad: hold down a shift key and press "num lock" (same as "ScrLk" key; top row).

Clumsy as heck if you ask me, so I bought an older style external PS/2 ThinkPad keypad off EBay; works great. Well, except for having to toggle the numlock to get full use of the keyboard back.

i got mine delivered today. Its the first thinkpad i have owned and iam still trying to get used to the trackpoint. I have it dual booting mandrake 9.1. Altho it runs pretty fast i think a 256 Meg upgrade will make it snappy. I love the feel of the keyboard and all in all a really well built machine. Thanks to the OP for posting the deal.

Anyone get the 256 Meg pc133 kingston ram from newegg ?. Pls lemme know if it worked fine .

Hey guys and gals, what do you use to clean your screen with of the dust and smudges?

Cleaning your computer

DANGER:
Isopropyl Alcohol is a flammable liquid. Do not use this cleaner near an exposed flame or when the system is on.

You should occasionally clean your computer as follows:

Use a soft lint-free cloth moistened with non-alkaline detergent to wipe the exterior of the computer.
Don't spray cleaner directly on the display or keyboard.
Gently wipe the LCD with a dry, soft lint-free cloth. If a stain remains, moisten the cloth with LCD cleaner and wipe the stain again. Be sure to dry the LCD before closing it.
NOTE: A 50-50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water or water alone may be used as a LCD cleaner to moisten your cloth. Antistatic LCD cleaning cloths and Kim Wipes are also acceptable alternatives.

That Airborne Express really sucks! It only works if yoi live in a major city. They picked mine up on the 16 and sent it to El Paso, Tx. I live in Cloudcroft, NM and they don't deliver here. Thats right, they don't deliver here! They will forward to me by US Mail. What a Crappy company. Ever here of a freight company that only delivers to certain locations?

From now on, my purchasing decisions will be based on who the frieght company.

Dascud, I ordered the 256 and stuck it in and it works fine for me. No problems whatsoever. Well, i take that back ;) I went into hibernation mode BEFORE sticking the new 256 stick in and when i turned it on it gave me a blue screen, probably because it was trying to stick the 256meg data file from the hd to the 512 ram. It just choked i guess. Just had to reboot and it was fine. After that, hibernation works fine :))

btw, if anyone is having problems with WiFi, you can try updating the firmware.

T23 WiFi firmware update

my T23 wasn't consistently connecting to my Belkin router. after the firmware update, it's much better.

I was having the same problem, staying consistently connected to my netgear WAP router. I did the firmware upgrade and driver upgrade and it all went to pieces ;) I eventually got it working after a while, and now it is working great.

Just a general note about the WiFi. In the house, i get at least a 30-40 at the farthest point (100 right beside it and nearby). So i took a walk outside and walked about 100 yards and still had a 13, could still brose the web too. I was shocked! The 100 yards is a clear view of my house though, no trees to obstruct the signal. But still, 300 feet is a LONG way (i think) for the signal to travel reliably. I am very happy with it's performance. I get 500KB/sec transfering files on my network, which is about 4-5mbps, not exactly 11, but it's wireless :)

Very happy i purchased this IBM. Not to sure i would be sayin the same if i had purchased a Dell Inspiron ;)
