How do you use $25 off $100 coupon if the item is $89.99 after $40 instant rebate?

You have to find $10.01 of "free after rebate" (FAR) things to add. The question is what are these items?

MikroMak,

I believe it is USB 1.1 compatible, however you will only achieve 4x4x6 speeds.

bonk102,

The online price has been updated. You can order now either online or over the phone. I just did it.

I ordered it over the phone. I called and got the $89.99 price after instant rebate. Then I gave the CSR the URL for Office Depot's $20 off $75 Online coupon (since they accept competitor's coupons). Ended up coming to $73 (including tax) with free shipping - $30 MIR.

Anybody know if you can remove the drive and use it as a USB2.0 IDE Enclosure?

My roommate has an older I/O magic external CDRW drive. I believe it is 4x4x6. I looked it over, and it does not seem like it is possible to actually get the thing open to even possibly put in a faster drive. I understand that it is USB1.1, but if the casing is the same for the 24X, it may not be good for just a USB2.0 casing. Anyone know if the 24x can actually be removed from the casing?

FWIW, I have the I/O Magic 48x16x48x USB 2.0. That thing is loud! It looks like just a regular CD burner in the case, but I'm not about to hack it open. The PS is inside the case, (no wall-wart), and there is also a fan in the case.

Anyone know about the rebate company?(I/O Magic?)

It looks like they're fairly evil.

"Claim must be postmarked within 7 days of purchase."

I/O magic rebates are on the bottom of the list. I usually have to call and "remind" them to send it, then it comes. Never early though.

Its got a 2mb buffer and the box says Buffer Under Run Technology onboard

Most people that bought this (including myself) have found that the drives in the box are actually 32x10x40 :D which is defintely a plus. You won't know what you got until you open the box since they're shipped in the boxes that say 24x10x40. I've only read of 1 person that got the 24x instead of a 32x.

btw...I got my 2.0 card today that I ordered on Wed. Buy.com is quick if you live in Cali :)

Make that two people. :( After my extended phone adventure with OM CSR's, I finally got them to accept the OD coupon, but only after speaking to three different reps who said they would not, and then finally asking for a supervisor who said they would. Received the drive quickly, the box is obviously marked "24X10X40", and the front of the drive door is marked "24X10X40" :( The upgraded ones are marked as such right? I wonder if I could return this one to a OM brick & mortar store and exchange it for another in the hopes of getting an upgraded one? Can you return an item you purchased from OM online to a BM store?

RATS!!!!

Yep, box is blue, black and white. Says 24x10x40. Sticker on the bottom of the box says s/n 04831. There are 2 rounds stickers on the tab (where you open the top), one is blue the other white. I don't see any thing else that would differentiate it. The front of the drive itself says 32x10x40

Yes, you can return it to the b&m. It says that on their web site. Might as well return it, you might get lucky.
