I'm sorry, but you're doing something wrong if you can't get a job - maybe you're not acting very enthusiastic when turning in your application, maybe you're not following up as much as you should be (IE, calling the employer to see if they had considered you for the job). Sure, businesses need to hire people when necessary, but it's your responsibility to convince them that they need you working for them. If you follow that mindset everytime you look for a job, you're almost guaranteed to be hired.

When I was 16, I decided that I needed job. The first place I went to was the Papa John's pizza store down the street, and I walked in with a good attitude and a shit-eatin' grin on my face and told the manager that I needed a job, and I was willing to do anything needed to get it. I told them that I was a hard worker (provided proof, gpa, references from people, etc), and after I filled the application out, I was told that I was to start work that night.

Last december, whenI applied at Gateway, I followed to same formula (but I classed it up, made it more professional). At the end of my first interview, I was told that a second and third interview was not needed, and all I had to do was go take a piss test and I was in.

Now, these have been the only two jobs I have EVER applied for, but I was pretty much hi8red on the spot for both. It's all about your presentation when trying to get hired, and if you present yourself right, it'll work almost every time.

Sorry kid, but you're doing something wrong.

Or you got lucky twice.

My first job= exactly what you described.
This summer= no one was even interested...they had STACKS of applications and even interviews that seemed to go REALLY well got me nowhere. I called back, I showed up more than once (often to sign a list of people who had returned, most of the time it was a very long list).
Sometimes there are no jobs to talk your way in to.
