I know there some other 80GB deal ATM but, this is for those that don't want to leave the house, PM, or whatever. Deal may be online only rebate stipulates staples.com.
Staples has the Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM Drive for $129.00. The staples site says it's ATA100 but, the model # L01J080G comes up as ATA/133 (D740X) on Maxtor's Website

Buy it for $129.00
Use the $20 off $100 Coupon
-$30 Maxtor MIR
-$30.00 Staples $30.00 MIR I spoke to Mohammed @ Staples Rebate Center and he said they will accept a photocopy of the UPC.

A THIRD $30 REBATE FOUND
-$30.00
-$30.00 FOR ANOTHER $30.00 REBATE OFFER #02-49607

Conformation in writing the Photocopy is OK

Staples is usually good about accepting copies of the UPC if there's a manufactuer rebate involved. To be on the safe side, be sure to include a note mentioning the Maxtor rebate in the envelope...

Eh, you would have figured they'd take that out of the fine print of their rebates after so many people have asked about it in the past.

I have called staples about this in the past and staples rebates accepts photocopies. I will call and verify on this one.

From Taples Rebate center FAQ.
The product that I purchased has two rebates. The Manufacturer offers one, and one is offered by the store at which I bought the product. May I submit copies of the receipt and UPC code?
When there are multiple rebates available for the same product, many times the store rebate will accept a copy of the purchase and product information. For the specific rules of the promotions, you should refer to the promotion details on the rebate form or website.

With one rebate, it comes to $80, my local best buy has this drive on the shelf for $80, no rebates. of course, YMMV

Too bad, both rebates go to the same address, thus, only one is good = not such a great deal

I see different dept #'s for each address. This means 2 different
addresses. No?

I see different dept numbers, but the same PO Box. I don't think I'll risk it, but $1/GB if they only accept one rebate, is an excellent deal.

I just realized that the description of the model #L01J080G comes up as a kit w/ ATA/133 card on Maxtors site and everywhere else!!!!

I think most of us would agree only the old 80 gigs will have the ata133 card. Most likely there will be no ata133 card. One of the first deals for the 80 gig ata133 HD that happened around spring of 2002 had ata133 cards. However, staples has been shipping out HDs without the cards since that very first deal.

I bought 2 of this exact model at staples 2 weeks ago. There's no ATA/133 card in the package.

Certainly does vary - no such deal at any BB's around me. If your BB has it for $80, I do heartily recommend PMing if possible. $20+tax for an 80 GB drive is, well, insane!

PM`ed this drive @ Staples , register printed out 2 rebate forms..
one for "Staples rebate center, Miami, FL."
one for "Staples rebate center, McAllen, TX"
both forms ask for orignal UPC bar code
Anyone know which address may be manufacturer rebate, which address should I take a chance on by sending copy of UPC?

The one I got recently didn't contain ATA/133 card.

What I did was PM'd Best Buy at Staples. I could not prove that Best Buy had it for 79.97 but the CSR called BB and PM'd me down to 97.__. I then used a 20 off 100 coupon, then got the two rebates.
100.00 drive plus pen
-20 coupon
-30 rebate
-30 rebate
-----------------
~20.00

You don't have to worry about the rebates, Staples will take copies, just give them a call.

Hope this helps
