2 separate questions. I have a Nextel phone i860 and a Sprint Sanyo phone I was wondering since the SERO plan offers either the Nextel or Sprint networks, can I use my existing phone when I buy a new phone, keeping the same phone # on both phones but the old phone primarily as a backup? A Nextel rep a year ago offered me a family plan with 2 free phones and the option of still using my old phone even if the new phones were activated.
Second question is with the Treo and Q I've seen people talking about on here, do you pay a flat fee or a separate data charge for using the internet? If web access is included for a flat fee are there restrictions for bandwidth useage? Also on some phones it has a bullet point that the phone can act as a modem to a laptop. Would this equal free mobile internet access?

My Nextel plan is up in June and my Sprint is already on the month to month (no contract). I want to cancel both of these for the SERO plan. Which would you guys recommend the NExtel or Sprint plan? In my area the Nextel signal works out better with fewer dropped calls but costlier but I rarely use Direct Connect. But the Sprint plan is less than 30 a month but only 300 minutes but lousy coverage even with my Sanyo dual band phone.

Vaylon lucky you, I am paying $59.99 a month for 1000 minutes added $text messages and insurance so after taxes and fees it's like $90. This SERO plan will save me money even if I just switched my Nextel plan to this.
Sorry for all the questions but out of the Sprint and Nextel phones, which have the best battery life? My Sanya phone is over 5 hours talk time. I'm lucky if I get 2 from my Nextel i860. The Nextel will barely last a day even unused before the red battery indicator comes on or goes dead. This is even with a newerr NIMH 900 mah extra capacity battery.
Mine also comes with unlimited text, but I have never used it.

the large screen camera phones that use the old batteries, I860/870, draw a lot of juice to power the screens. This is the reason they switched batteries with the I880, much better life.
Nextel phones as a whole have lower stand by time than any other phone on the market for one reason: direct connect. To save power, a phone goes into a "sleep" mode, and is awakened by a call. In order to get instant direct connect thought, the phone can never truly go to "sleep". It is always on, ready for the instant communication. It is a fact of life with the phones.
Any phone that does not have direct connect will have a longer stand by time.
you can only have a number active on one phone at a time. you can keep your old phone as a backup in case your new one is lost/damaged, and you need to switch service back to it.
For the Treo, the data service is the unlimited web, which is included in the SERO plan. No restrictions on bandwidth, but to make it act as phone as a modem requires another type of plan
go with whatever service gives you the best coverage. If you want to take advantage of the data capabilities of the sprint network, you need to go with sprint. If you use your cell phone just to talk mostly, and the coverage is superior, go with nextel. A sprint phone will roam, a nextel phone does not.

2. the only reason for you to go to SERO is if you want the unlimited web/text that goes with it, and you want to switch to a sprint phone. The web/text are really utilized on that side of the network. Your 800 cell minutes for 32.99 is good enough not to warrant a new contract unless you want the other features of the plan

Call employee accounts: 866-250-2221 and tell them you saw the offer on the sprint SERO site and wish to be upgraded to it. Some will know what you are talking about and do it right there.
I just did it 20 minutes ago and they did it easily for 2 account (mom and me) in one call.
It expires 6/30/07.
They're simply saying that they are offering 3 different voice plans with unlimited data; not a plan with up to 3 lines with unlimited data.
I was pointing out to the unlimited text messages. I called the number and got unlimited text messages. Usually people get rejected for requesting it but it's an offer on the website so if you are on SERO or are going to be on SERO you better make sure you get the unlimited text before it expires.
