Once I got the new phone on the SERO line I called to try to have them port the number from my old line and terminate the line. I had to talk to a few different CSRs before they finally understood what I was trying to do. Finally I was transferred to a very nice American woman who knew exactly what she was doing. It was a little more complicated than just porting the number because I guess they can't have the same number on two different Sprint lines at the same time. So she had to first terminate the old line, then call the "Help Desk" and have them pull out the number and reserve it and then she gave that number to my new line. She did this all while I waited and it took a total of about 20 minutes.

Of course it would have been easier to just switch to SERO directly, but I was unable to find a CSR who was willing to do that when I tried. So that was my experience, I hope other people have similar success.

Were you under a contract? I'm currently under contract until December, but I'd like to switch to sero as soon as possible. Was hoping to find a nice family plan for my girlfriend and I, but they don't seem to have much. I think she's going to stick with cingular as that's where her family is and she doesn't want to lose their in network calling.

I missed something. How do I switch to the SERO plan? Do i need a spring employee to recommend me? (I'm at 2years and 2 months of my current sprint contract so i can switch).

I wasn't under contract, so I think you might have to wait until December to make the switch.

you2, you don't need a sprint employee to recommend you, you just need a sprint employee's email address. You can easily find one using google (they end in @sprint.com) or you can look through the early part of this thread where there was a sprint employee posting that you can use his email (just PM him).

If you're really serious about trying to make the switch, I'd go over to the Slickdeals forum and find the SERO thread and read as much of that as you can. A lot of people there have succcessfully switched by talking on the phone with CSRs, but I wasn't able to, so I did the roundabout way using the website.

Wow, I'm glad I found this. I was looking for a good deal on a plan and this looks like the way to go. Verizon has pissed me off to no end and I was planning on looking into Sprint anyway.

I noticed during the sign up it offers "FREE! Unlimited Web, Data and Picture Mail."

So, if I get a bluetooth phone such as the Sanyo Katana, Samsung A900 or A920 will I be getting unlimited web access through my laptop?

I'm pretty sure it changes to something else when you pick a different phone. The initial phone is some data card for a PC I believe so it offers you the unlimited data plan for $50.

Yeah, I noticed that and was all disappointed until I got to the checkout process and it offered that quote above about unlimited data.

Does anybody know if I can tether a laptop through a Katana with the plans they're offering?

i know with the treo700wx you can get free internet thru the cell so i dont see why you wouldnt with the samsung or katana so long as you can hook them up to a pc.. dunno how you would hook to it.

Hot plan here, thanks for the heads-up (I learned about this plan from this thread).

Just wondering, is there anyone here that no longer wants their SERO plan for any reason, and wants to transfer their plan to me (I'd take over the remaining months left on your contract). I'm still in-contract with a Verizon plan, but for the unlimited "power vision" alone, I am willing to pay the extra $30 + taxes every month for this as a 2nd line. I'd be FANTASTIC if you could include a PDA phone (pretty much the only reason why I'm getting this SERO plan as a 2nd line is for the unlimited data, so no real point to get this SERO if I get just a regular phone with limited internet browsing capabilities), such as a:

- PPC-6700 (mainly looking for this one)
- Treo 700WX
- Treo 700p
- Treo 650
- etc.

Please PM me if anyone is looking to get rid of their SERO contract, thanks!

With this plan, if you don't like the phone and want to exchange it, do you have to ship it back first and wait for another one or is that something you can do in a store? Also, do you have to buy the phone part with the plan online or can you buy the phone after at an actual store?

Also, if I want my wife and I to both have this plan can they be under the same name/account or do we each need our names for our own?

2 questions.

1) I am just ending my latest 2 year contract, I really want the Sanyo-8400 phone, I have had great success with previous Sanyo phones, but they dont have it on the SERO website, also I have $150 rebate but it requires a plan of $34.99...Is there any way I can get this phone instead of the Samsung? I wouldnt mind paying $129 instead of the $99 that I would for the Samsung. My friend said that on CSR told him that he would get the rebate even though the plan wasnt $34.99, anyone else have this experience? I dont want to buy it full price and then get stuck with it, but it has an hour longer talk time battery life then samsung.

2) Does anyone in Sprint know what they are doing? I have 1 month left on my contract and wanted to do SERO, 2 people had no clue what I was talking about, the 3rd said I couldnt keep the same number and transfered me to the 4th who said I could keep the same number but he wasnt authorized to do it and only my friend that is referring me could do it by calling corporate.

Short answer, No. They have messed up my bill the past three months, they always fix it but I usually have to talk to 2-4 different people to get things straight.

Sprint does not suck...
I found that you have to contact them via their web e-mail process and spell it out.
That way you have a record and no retarded vocal communication to get me P.O. ...
I set up 4 separate accounts all with billing to me (me & 3 of the kids) and learned this lesson the hard way. :D:D:D

We could not be more pleased with the SERO plan...Thanks again to GTFan!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have a clue what you're talking about. I've called them several times in setting up my freebies for my wife, mom and my Sero plans. Not ONCE did I ever talk to someone outside of the USA or Canada.

Can you buy a phone somewhere else, say ebay, and then get it activated to Sprint?

I realize, now, that even with my corporate discount for t-mobile, I am still paying twice as much, for myself, then I would for Sprint. I realize thath Sprint PCS is a CDMA network, and I have head awesome success with T-mobile's GSM\GPRS network...I would at least like to try Sprint out...

Another question...

Does this plan still include unlimited data, and web?
And is that unlimited Data and web, pending the phone that one uses with the network?

I am pretty sure you have to use the phone inphonic sends you for a certain length of time (6 mos or 1 yr?).

Also, my friend just got an A900 with this plan and it has unlimited data and web still.

awesome. just got in on this deal, thanks!

ported my old number to this plan (was nextel), worked without a hitch. Got a call ref code from the website and used the number on there to talk to a CSR. 15 min later everything was all set, should have the phone in a couple days.
