Wow thanks for posting this going to try to run this card with my 5850 as the ati chart says I can . I was at first a lil sorry I missed the deal then the second link showed me I could still pick it up

Keep in mind that when you run this in crossfire with an HD5850, you will get the performance of crossfired HD5850 cards. It just so happens that this is currently cheaper than any HD5850, so it's not a bad idea, but typically, it's not the most cost-effective setup.

Finally pulled the trigger. I was going back and forth all day on it, but when it was still in stock when I got home from work it was time. Hopefully I can squeeze it into my current case until I get my next system going in the next few months.

I bought an EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked Edition literally 3 days ago, and installed it yesterday. Think its worth it to return for a full refund and pick this up instead? I would mainly use it for gaming, don't care so much about the 6 display.

Thanks!

Return NAO!

If I hadn't just bought the TD GTX460 (768MB) for $48.xx (after rebates and other discounts), I would probably get this. Don't need either so I'll stick with the GTX460. Still a great deal though.

Fuck I just spend my Amazon gift card on an Asus Xonar STX card. Im thinking about getting this to xfire with my 1gb 5870.

Think its worth it if im planning to play BF3 with it down the road?

happy medium is right, when you Crossfire 2 Radeons it doesn't downclock one to match the other, you actually end up at performance equal to the sum of the parts. 5850 + 5850 < 5850 + 5870 < 5870 + 5870.

No you will see the performance increase with a crossfired 5870 and 5850, just like if you crossfire a 5770 with a 5750.

Its called asymmetric CrossFireX ..................

I'm 100% positive.
But you will only see 1gb of memory unless your 5850 has 2gb.

That's what I originally thought too, but that is not what the tests show:

On the other hand, the xbit review of the 5750/5770 is newer, so maybe the drivers were fixed so you didn't actually get lower performance with a 5850/5870 than with a 5850/5850.

Man, this almost tempts me to sell my two current Vapor-X cards and replace with two of these. For the money I sell my current cards I can get these, and likely break even or even make a few bucks. And these cards have 2GB of memory and will likely overclock further than my Vapor-X cards.

*edit - Deal over, that makes the decison easy. 🙂

got mine.

anybody know what the difference is between the 2 different types of mini-DP to DP adapters? or if the mini-DP to hdmi is active?

edit: looks like mine is missing the manual. also they are including 4 miniDP adapters instead of 2

Got mine today. Man, what a nice card. Makes a great replacement for my 2 week old HD 5770. Plays Dirt 2 at 1920x1080, 8x AA, and Vsync on at 60+ FPS.

No manual here either.
