hey guys, i dont know if this actually works but i was thinking it would.
at staples you can configure the x1000 as follows (pretty much the lowest unless u downgrade the screen and the video card).
staples is also offering 100 dollars off any desktop/laptop BTO (coupon code listed when u buy the laptop). Also, you can add the 100 dollar rebate that compaq is offering (on hpshopping.com). finally, there's a 50 off 200 coupon (supposedly doesnt work when u enter it online, but i think staples will discount the 50 off of your order if you call in by phone).
so for the computer i built below:
Presario X1000_ + $100 MIR ( 516030 )
15.4" WVA WUXGA (1920 x 1200) ( 516047 )
802.11b Wireless LAN ( 516066 )
256MB DDR SDRAM (2X128MB) ( 516057 )
Pentium(R) M 1.3GHz ( 516035 )
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive ( 516048 )
DVD/CDRW Combo Drive ( 516053 )
Microsoft(R)Windows(R) XP Home ( 516040 )
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery ( 516069 )
Microsoft(R) Works/Money ( 516042 )
64MB Mobility Radeon(TM) 9200 ( 516032 )
Subtotal: 1624.00
Instant Off: 100.00
Rebate: 100.00
Coupon: 50.00
Total: 1374.00
If you compare this to when the 10% was active, we have:
Subtotal: 1624.00
10% Coupon+100 Rebate Total: 1362.
of course, if you had the academic discount, you would have had it for: 1280
Finally, if you purchase this off of hpshopping.com with the academic discount, you have it for: 1443
But, the cool thing is, you could configure the base model :
1339
-100 (rebate)
-100 (instant)
-50 (coupon)
-------
1089
versus
1105 during the 10% deal. So this deal is actually better!!!
however if you get the academic discount, 1038, you still win.
Again, this is all dependent on the 50 off 200 coupon, and i havent tried this yet but thought i should post this to see what u guys think. Sorry in advance if this is all bs.
