From what I've heard, they have extended the x1000 deal to 8/8/03. Hurry up b4 it expires.

Definitely go with this deal. Its flaming hott. It has alot more ram 10 gb more hard drive space blue tooth technology 32mb more video ram and etc etc etc.. This deal won't last. Hurry up b4 it ends. GL. :)

Got mine yesterday! This laptop is awesome! Ordered July 16th recieved July 30th took 14 days shipped from Shanghai, China. The 15" wide screen looks great although i should of upgraded to the WSXGA+ to get 1680 x 1050.

For anyone who misses it, Costco has the laptop and they give a small (about $60 bucks it seems) savings over buying from HP Shopping. That is of course, again, if you miss the 10%.

Is anyone using both academic and 10%? How are they verifying?

Yes, I used 10% + 5% + Ebates. They don't verify anything as far as I know.

i got some cheap 256 off of new egg for 43 shipped. From Dane Tech, never heard of them but the pic showed samsung chips, so I went ahead and got it.

Yeah those are good too. But remember, the x1000 only has 2 ram slots so if you get 256mb worth of ram, then ur max would only be 384 assuming that you got the base model with 128mb ddr ram. BTW.. the Dana brand is pretty dependable. I have a couple of Dana chips in my main desktop.

Turns out that Costco gives you ANOTHER $100 off. Now you don't have to rush to buy from HP. The same deal (almost) can be had from Costco. I am not counting the 5% discount since I cannot get it.
