Is this a good deal? I'm in the market for a wide screen. I have a 19" LCD right now, but want to upgrade. I have not been looking around though, so....

Is this a hot deal?? Or can you find them cheaper?

Edit:
Kobb pointed something out to me:
UPDATE:
Free Shipping & WEB ONLY deal, you have to open the rebate link to see this.

Hey there,

I just came back from Office Depot and had a very awful experience from 3 OD. Lame excuses, ex. No PriceMatch with Costco or coupon doesn't apply to tech.

Well, long story short. Both my friend and I went to the Laptop section and ordered 3 online. Few minutes later, went to counter and asked for pickup. As soon as Circuit City has them back in stock, go back to OfficeDepot and Pricematch the difference without any rebate hassle. Find yourself a 10% off $199 purchase coupon along with the $40 off $199 coupon and you got yourself a spankin' $150-160 Retail 3yr. Warranty LCD Monitor.

This is HOT!

OD is on my Sh!L list! They are unresponsive, lame and unwilling to lift a finger to accomodate.
They have a hard time even honoring their own pricing! :disgust:

dang, I just bought this for $200 yesterday. They wouldn't take any of my coupons at office depot, pissed me off. $180 pretty good tho, it's a pretty good monitor. I wish I could put the resolution up a little higher and I wish that it looked better when it's completely dark, but it's a pretty big monitor and is really cheap.

first off, welcome to anandtech. this was your first post. :) cheers. secondly, what happened exactly? you bought it online, walked up to the customer service desk and asked for pick up, but they were out of them? so you are going to wait for them to have them back in stock and then use the 10% off a $199 purchase in conjunction with the $40 off $199 coupon and price match the LCD monitor as well. But don't they price match the monitor only AR, not before. So the likelihood of a 22" LCD monitor being less than 180 after rebate elsewhere is extremely small.

I can not seem to find a store around me with the LCD even in stock, says "unavailable" for everywhere within a 50 mile radius

Acer seems to be unloading these. Last week they were $200 AR at OD and now $180 AR at CC ..... must be a new model comming out? I suspect that well see a lot of 22" WS price drops in the near future since most use the same Chimei TN pannel.

Thanks for the review! Ive read many like it, lots of complaints on the viewing angle.
22"WS would be nice but I guess Ill hold out.

It looks nice, but it is probably one of the cheapest feeling monitors that I have handled in a while, BTW, checkout the Anandtech LCD buyers guide, this is a TN panel so it cannot achieve as good of colors or viewing angles as more expensive LCD panel types:

Thanks.

I remember the Acer special about 2 weeks ago for $200 at Office Depot and I wanted to jump on this offer. Many people were reporting back with denied offers and excuses from managers around the country. There were also coupons availably provided by members from forums such as HardOCP, SlickDeals (Most comprehensive), and Anand. So I told my friend about this 3 days ago and we agreed that this offer is HOT. Friday night, I went over to one of the OfficeDepots located in San Mateo,CA and the night manager/supervisor rejected my coupon because it doesn't apply to technology. WTH! Fine, I moved on and went back home to San Francisco.

Saturday. Morning went over across the bay to visit my aunt, uncle and my 10-month old cousin. While I was there near San Leandro, I went over to one of the OfficeDepots to look for the AL2216Wbd. Fortunately, the manager there was nice enough to bring it out and went ahead and rang it up. I told him that I had a $40 off $199 purchase and he said it won't apply because of technology item. I told him that I also have an original OfficeDepot $30 off coupon and he said OD and other competitor's coupon will never work because of technology item. We also went to a buffet for dinner and I happened to call my friend up. I told him I probably won't be able to get the monitor due to "technology" restrictions and the store closes soon. Left there and my parents and myself drove back home across the bay.

Today. Morning went to church to run sound system. After noon, called my friends that I was going to call the BBD and file a complaint against several OfficeDepots against their Low Price Gauranttee Policy. Never bothered and went home. I asked my friend to check on Circuit City again and surprisingly the price dropped again on the Acer! Along the way, I knew that there was a Circuit City and OfficeDepot next to each other in a shopping mall nearby. Went into CC first and asked for the model number, and the salestech told me they don't exist in their inventory. I looked at the system and they were out. Then I went into OD and asked a supervisor if they had the Acer in stock, 3 total. Just the right amount we were looking for! I went out there and headed back home. Drove to my friend's house and picked him up (My other friend went studying at school for finals) and along we go. We had all printed documents and coupons to show proof for the Pricematch. Arrived at OD and asked for the 3 monitors. One of the Department Manager was about to bring them out till I asked her to pricematch CircuitCity's price of $180. Then we had a little chat about why OfficeDepot doesn't pricematch online deals and how they don't pricematch Costco because they are wholesale. BULLSHIT! I had the policy with me and we searched and saw Costco as one of the participating competitors. An addition, the department manager told us that she can't offer all 3 monitors but can only pricematch 1 of them. BS! Said thank you and walked around the store. Then I told him that some or a few members on forums have tried ordering the monitors for a local pickup and asked for coupon promotion mark-off on the LCD and worked. Considering we had the AAA 10% off $199 purchase (thanks me), 3x $40 off $199 purchase, OfficeDepot policy, and some other papers, we knew we were prepared. I have 3 of the monitors in my trunk and ready to load off. Also, the department manager said they can't pricematch online store deals to in-store deals. WTH! Hence, we used one of their laptops to order online. We actually called 1800GoDepot and asked them to have the monitors picked up. Total bill came out to be about $1200! Crazy. When we received our printout receipt, they originally charged $399 for each Acer 22" LCD plus an additional mark-off price to get to $269.99.

So we purchased 3 monitors ended up to about $900. Apply 10% first, then a $40 coupon, and the pricematch. Another route, you can individually purchase the monitor, instant savings brings to $230, then 10% off brings to about $207, then $40 off brings to $167. Instead of the $40 coupon, you can probably try the $50 coupon from Staples (only if not expired). I can't gauranttee that it will work, but worth a try.

TN issues aside, this is a very decent monitor - and for most users the viewing angle is not really an issue. I watch movies on mine all the time, and the colors look great once you mess around a little bit with the video card settings. The base has a cheap feel, and overall the monitor feels a little cheap - but that really isn't a factor is actual use.

That's a relief. Honestly, I don't know much about TN and S panels and such. I'm an audio guy, but my other 2 friends who are also using this might find it okay. They both do video.

LoL.

Yeah, After I got hit on the head and went to the ER, things are not going so well. My speech, vocabulary, and sentence structuring are affected. Sucks.
