DEAD! Harmon Kardon 7.1 receiver 399

This is an amazing deal...damn, I just got my 330 a few months ago. Anyone looking for a good AVR needs to jump on this. HK is one of the most honest names when it comes to rating their receivers (they rate with all channels driven vs most who may rate only 2) Do not hesitate to pick this up if you can.

Sorry about posting again, but I still can't believe it. I got a refurbished AVR-325 off ebay for $360 less than 6 months ago. This is AMAZING. $400 is an amazing price for a used one!

Get it!

Possibly a combination of being up late and having saved up some christmas funds, but it is now mine! (well, at least one of them). Weee! now, i save for another year to buy some quality speakers to go along with it... :]

Thank you!

harmanaudio sells this refubished for $100 more!

You can pick them up from harmonaudio on eBay from $430-450 quite often. They include the full manufactures warranty as if they were new.

H/K is soon to release a 435 and a 635, which will have significant upgrades. Merchants will unload the 430/630 to make room !!

I had a 630 and it was nothing but problems. In fact I had 2 of them and neither would work correctly. So, I got a Denon 3803. Not impressed, but it works. When I get a real job (graduate) I am getting seperates.

I got my own AVR-325 from harmanaudio off ebay. You're right that they include the same warranty, but I still would have taken a new one over a refurbished one if it was the same price, which is basically what this deal if for people looking for a 430 (this could even be cheaper than that depending on shipping). When I said harmanaudio I meant their official site rather than ebay since I thought that was a more fair comparison since that is a set price.

they said:

" Please note that the item(s) listed below have been removed from
your order per your request to Customer Service, or because the
item is no longer available."

so basically they had maybe 1 or 2 for sale and those obviously got picked up pretty fast.

oh well. looking at the refurbs now on ebay...similar price range, and hopefully the quality is similar as well (since they're factury rebuilt). thinking i might even try to get the 630...only ~100 more...

You might be better off with the Ebay deal anyway. HK is extremely strict on it's warranty-anything not purchased from an authorized dealer is not covered by the warranty. I don't know if Outpost is an authorized dealer or not (the deal disappeared too fast for me to bother to check) but I know that the official refurbish HK store on Ebay is.

For what it's worth, I bought a two channel HK "refurbished" amp from the Ebay store. It came in perfect condition and sure seemed to be a new product.

I agree that the ebay option was a good experience. The only thing wrong with my receiver was that one of the rubber grips on the bottom of the metal feet is almost peeled off. I'm sure I could just order some new ones if I wanted. Other than that, there's not a scratch on it.

Are you absolutely sure you want an HK? In this price range there's also the Pioneer VSX-1014TX-K. I think onecall has it for around $450 or so. It has some cool features like a built in equilizer of sorts that adapts the sound to fit the room characteristics. It also has been tested independently to put out a true 110 watts per channel in 5.1 mode. It's getting great reviews over at AVSforum and Hometheaterforum. You should check it out. Some people are saying it's the best performance/cost out today.

with so many options out there for quality receivers, i'm never entirely sure about anything. the only other receiver i've extensive experience with is the h/k 525, which i loved, so based on just that i'm leaning towards h/k. plus logic 7 rules! bass management, the headphone dolby processing, and the multiroom options sound cool as well. and i hear h/k has top of the line customer service and return/replacement warranties, which is always important.

granted, i'm not familiar with pioneer, besides what i've read about it just now, so i may be making an uninformed decision. but truthfully, i would be kidding myself if i called myself an audiphile...so i'll probably just go with what i know.

now, the question is, should i pay the 100 more for the 630!? decisions, decisions... :]

Logic 7 does indeed rule. If you love it on a H/K receiver, wait until you pick up a Lexicon processor. 🙂

If anyone is interested in sound there are better options for not much money in the new digital amplifiers.

one day, when i'm making the big bucks, i shall spend 6k on a receiver... 🙂 Until then, i think i'll go with the avr630.

as for the digital amps...seeing as how i deal with analog circuit design in my job, i have a natural aversion to all things digital! 😀

Indeed. In fact, this Panasonic XR-25 receiver is still available at J&R for $150 + $23.35 shipping.

It's refurbished, but J&R has an excellent reputation.
