Here is the situation last week my quantum fireball 40 GB hard drive expired while trying to transfer the info to a new hard drive.

It looks like an electrical issue as there is a burn on the circuit board and the bios does not recognize the drive.

1. Does anyone know where I could find a circuit board for a 40GB quantum fireball lct20 (replace w/ Compaq spare 173342-001)? I read that you can exchange them if you find an exact match so I would like to try it.

So I took my new Seagate 200gb drive and installed it in my new computer then 4 days after that click click black screen. When I try to reboot it gets to the searching IDE and hangs.

So now I have two hard drives that died in about a week is my luck really that bad.

2. Could there be other things that could be causing this?
Electrical issues? I have a surge protector but not a UPS.

Anything else that you can think would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the power supply that came with my new case.

Here are the specs:

ATX 420W power supply
-High-gloss mirror finish
-1*80mm built-in UV blue LED fan
-Wire management:all wires are sleeved
-Size:116 x 149 x 87 mm

The input/output specifics didn't copy correctly so I deleted them from the post they can be found at

If the PSU's are usually ok do you think I should send it back. I have the option to exchange it during the first 30 days.:clock::confused:
