Dead GTX260?

Hello! I have a GTX260 here and whenever I play WoW or SC2 at 1680x1050, around high-ish graphics settings, I can hear the card slowly ramp up. The card reaches around 82-85C and begins to rev loudly. I've taken the card out and clean it a little and smell it a little, though I can't really tell if it's a burnt smell or just being old haha (it does carry a little of that minor burning smell, but it might be dust><). Is it possible for it to be fried a little or close to dying and still work? I've already been looking into alternatives, but I just want to see if this is possible. Thanks!

Get a temp monitoring app and see how fast the temps change when its under load and idle. Could be the heat sink is uncoupled and not transferring heat juices as efficiently as possible. Or just pop off the heatsink, clean it with ETOH, rub in a small amount of thermal compound, then put a tiny bead on there and put it back together.

So you're saying you have a video card.
Congratulations.

That wasn't necessary, DominionSeraph.

@OP: it's normal for the card to heat up during heavy graphical usage. As the temps get higher, the fan will ramp up, making it louder. Sometimes you get dust buildup on older cards so the fan has to work harder to cool the card.
