I was wondering if anyone knows how good the quality of the base LCD is for movies and such. I would rather spend the extra 70 bux for the ultraSharp if it makes a big enough difference. Has anyone been able to compare the two ?

thanks

for those who just got the dell or its still in transport,

call customer service,

tell them the price came down since you bought it,= price adjustment,

they give you 60 bucks per order invoice number, thus the advantage of one puter per order,

SO THATS 60 BUCKS JUST FOR CALLING, AND SAZ, I WANNA LOWER PRICE, OR I JUST MAY RETURN IT !!!

BUT BE NICE,

I HEAR THE DELL PHONE SUPPORT DUDES ARE GETTING A LOT OF NEG WAVES, ~~~~~~~~~~~ ! :)

so be nice !!!

to anyone who has already recieved their system:

if you got it with the G4 4200 or put your own high end vid card in it have you done any benchmarking yet? how about on the hardrive subsystem? I'm just curious as to how these actually perform?

Thanks alot,

Tony

I've just read in other threads that the performance of a GF4 MX420 isnt all that. Actually, the other threads make it sound really crappy. I was wondering how bad it really is.

I don't necessarily play games all that much, but I do watch Multimedia, and since I'm going to equip it with a DVD player, I'll be using it for more movies. Just wondering how the playback would be.

Do you think it's worth the $70 upgrade from the MX to get the Ti4200? Thanx in advance.

Sounds like a sweet deal... don't you guys wish there would be someone to buy that system you just built?

An LCD sure sounds nice. ;)

Damn you AT Hot Deals! DAMN YOU TO HELL! :)

Careful tinkering with coupon codes on Dell's site, after 3-4 attempts with different codes, the coupon entry box just mysteriously disappeared.. Poof!

Hell, I ordered anyway...

if it's just for multimedia and dvds, the mx will be fine.

I asked the mods to ban me from the Hot Deals forum, maybe they can can us both as a combo sort of deal?

Now my computer is 691taxed - 100rebate = 591 - 80 = 511!!! Pretty nice consider the extra 20G and CDRW can be bought around $30 each... I am up 40 from this deal!

I did the same thing 2 weeks ago (2.53GHz 4550 + LCD $834 incl. tax - $100 MIR = $734), so I'll call them tomorrow. Will they see that I ordered 5 more systems (3 separate orders)? I can't imagine that they would really mind since I dropped some much money on them. I'd take the burner, but I wouldn't mind the cash either.

They might see that you ordered 5 more systems since the orders might be tied to your customer number but it's still worth a shot.

I am on hold right now. Talked to two reps.... first one was only offering 30$, said that this was the best she could do. I staid friendly and said that it is OK... I'll just need an RMA# then, so I can return this system and order with the better deal from this week. That kind of made her think again and she said to hold again.
I was transfered to "Steven" (lol) who I explained the whole thing again. and that I wished to get an RMA. I put in there that I am happy to keep the system and save him and me some hustle if willing to come a little closer to the two systems that I just ordered.
Well guess what... my Burner is on the way ;) And I still have my 100$ Mail in rebate. Free Burner = Good! ;)

BTW, I got the base system with the upgrade to 40GB HD and the Geforce 4 MX. They couldn't pricematch directly to the configuration now because of the difference in HD and CDRW but you can still get something out of the call because you can ship your other back and get this new configuration which is not what Dell wants.[/quote]

I called Dell to complain about the upgrades they are giving now as opposed to the deal 2 weeks ago. I told them for $10 less I could get double the ram, the TI4200 video card and the cd-rw drive as my computer I bought. They went through the whole return process and were just about to have me return the unit when I asked them if they could send me the parts and I'd install them. In the end, they are sending me more ram and the cd-rw drive. I lose out on the video card but the Mx is all I need anyway. So after the $100 rebate, my total cost is $615 and I get the 2.4ghz, 256ram, 64mb video card, cd-rw plus the cd-rom drive and the lcd monitor.....not too bad.

Now if I could find one of the new 10% off codes for orders over $1200, I'd order 2 of those systems to sell next month......lol

Dude, i'm getting my first DELL!

I'll refuse my HP ze2010 when the FedEx guy comes here today. $832 is too much for that lappy compared to this monster.
...or should i sell the laptop on Egay?

Are you 100% sure that's the right model number?

I would check current prices on eBay before deciding to cancel your order to sell it there.

The CDRW offered to me was an incentive not to send back the computer. It was not a pricematch. I asked the return lady and she stated that I could pricematch within the 30 days still. They may give you trouble pricematching this configuration to the first deal unless you had originally ordered it with the CDRW and the 60 GB HD or any other options that will get you above $749. They will try to keep you from sending the computer back though.

LOL! It's been almost a month since we ordered HP ZE1201 that i barely recall the model#
I bitched to staples support last night and from nowhere, i got a call from fedex this morning about my laptop getting delivered 'coz they don't know my address
I don't wanna go through the egay hassle tho. Some troll might take the lappy and not pay<--paranoid
It's apparent that i've never tried selling/bidding on Egay

Thanks for posting this deal! w00h000!

Considering there are two current HP ZE1201's selling for around $760 and the completed auctions closed around $850 ... I suggest cancelling your Staples order.

i called in to "return" my system I got from the deal 2 weeks ago, and to my surprise, Heather just gave me my return number w/o hesitation =O, so I called back again, spoke with Mohammed, and told him that I'd be happy to keep the system if I received the CDRW, and he was fine with that. All in all, $566 for 2.4ghz, cdrw, gf4mx, 20gb, 128mb. not bad =)

Let me see if I have this right..... I purchased the system last Friday, it's in transit and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Now, I need to call Dell, tell them there is a lower price and to pricematch it or I might send the system back. I'm old AND confused:confused:
