I'm getting tons of crashes - mainly right after shutting down a game. No problems/artifacting/overheating within games, but within a minute of quitting BF3/CS:S etc, I get some variation of the following a) a flash of 2d distortion (weird colors near lines) b) everything including the ability to move mouse slowed down without being able to interact with anything - i was listening to some music one time that slowed down as well - sounded rather awesome c) blue screen/system reset.

I was coming from ATI cards, so I had uninstalled and ran driver cleaner... I'm just going to reinstall windows today. :/ Hopefully I don't have to RMA.

That sounds like something more than just a driver issue...but who knows 🙂 good luck.

Welp, after a clean reinstall of windows - machine was working great through tons of reboots installing drivers and whatnot as a test. Installed the 285.62 drivers and the machine immediately hung after the w7 splash screen. Uninstalled in safe mode, and tried the drivers that came with the card - same result. RMA'ing tomorrow.

This sucks balls. Oh well.

Edit: Newegg is sending me another card using their advanced replacement RMA program. Getting free next day shipping. Yay. Hope this card doesn't have any issues.

1. gtx 480 still isn't perfect, and we all probably got excess stock that's been sitting around a while. Some of us won the crapshoot, some didn't.
2. newegg rocks.

Well, they also don't have the shelf life of an open box of cereal. I just got unlucky.

But yes. Newegg rocks. Got the replacement card today before noon. Waiting to install. 😀

Mine is still running unbelievably well. Apparently, much of gtx 580's improvements were just iterative process improvements that were also applied to these later gtx 480's.
