Just picked up the LA paper and saw in Fry's ad that they have a MSI GF4 Ti4200 64 meg for $99 (limit 1). No rebate hassles.

I picked one up in Woodland Hills.
 
I saw this in San Jo Merc. Is this card better than the PNY verto? I have the PNY card and was just wondering if the MSI is a better oc'er and if it has faster memory. TIA
1cheap2crazy, I believe they are different than the pcmag one, the pic on the ad shows 2 vga outs while the pcmag one has one vga and one dvi. I'll confirm it later as I might go check out Fry's after work. 🙂

I don't know about the Fry's MSI card. Same concern as "nerdherd". If it is indeed like the pcmag then great deal. I might go check it out tomorrow...but as hot as it is there may not be any left to checkout.

I got on the PNY deal and the card works just fine. I like having heatsinks on the memory too. Ya, the software package blows.
 
The MSI gf4 ti4200 is one of the top cards for overclocking. It has dvi and vga (and comes with dvi->vga cable to get dual vga monitors). I believe it has a hs on the card (but not 100% sure).. I've been looking at this model for a while. Unfortunately I'm out of town this weekend 🙁
 
I picked up one today. It is not the one in PC Magazine. It doesn't have a dvi port, instead it is another vga connector. So its dual vga. Plus there is no tv-in.
 
FWIW, I read somewhere (tomshardware probably, maybe even here) that the 64MB version of this card actually beats the 128MB one in performance. If I had a Fry's around here, I'd jump all over this deal.
 
Thanks for the update fileid. so it is exactly as you see it in the paper. Oh well, sold out at the san Jose Fry's.

So this deal was only happening over the weekend or did they sell out? Anyone been to Willsonville, OR store over the weekend? Damn I could really use this card. UT2K3 is pretty taxing on my GF2 PRO card.
 
FYI - I don't believe this deal is dead. According to the Houston Fry's Friday 12/6 ad: "Prices Good Fri, Dec 6, 2002 thru Tues , Dec 10, 2002; Prices subject to change after Tues, Dec 10, 2002" and the verbage around the card picture says "NO REBATE REQUIRED! Nvidia GeForce 4 64MP TI4200 AGP VIDEO CARD - TV-Out, Dual VGA Support... Limit 1 per customer. #3507064 While supplies last."

So if you can find one at your Fry's - go for it!
 
What is the difference between this one and the PNY 64MB AGP VC with nVidia GeForce4 MX420 3D chip? ($70 at fry's/outpost)

I have a feeling I'm asking a dumb question...go easy, I'm a newbie:Q
