(Dead) "FREE": VERBATIM 40x12x48 (LiteOn, upgrade to 48x) & Peachtree Accounting 2003 AR & coupon At Staples

I just called Staples to try to do this on the phone..as the web site wouldn't let me use the $35 off Peachtree and $50 off $200. Someone here said that they were told it was a glitch, but the CSR I spoke with explained to me that if I want to use both coupons, I would have to meet the required $ amount WITHOUT the other discounted item in the total.
Should I just call back and try for someone more..um...helpful?

Can you link us to the phillip's mfg rebate? and what did you show for the best buy pm?

The Phililips mfg rebate is on the side of the label. Be careful some of the older Phililips CDRs stock don't have the rebate form on the label, make sure they give you the right one.

For the PM I show they the Best Buy flyer for this week, the CDRs are on the back page.

Because both rebates require the UPC from the label, I'm sending Staples a copy of the UPC and Phililips the original UPC. One person who bought the Phililips CDRs said both his rebate had been approved another said that Staples rejected his rebate for not sending the original UPC, but after he called to tell them he had to send the original UPC to Phililips amd they approved the rebate. So it's YMMV on getting both rebate.

Phone order will not work either. The system will not let you or the CSR put both the instant rebate code and the $50 off $200 coupon code into the system. The instant rebate code is really a $35 off $$199.99 coupon code and to also use the $50 off $200 coupon code you would need to add $200 to your order.

You can do the Peachtree and the Verbatim in the store using the $40 off $200 email coupon. it will cost you $10 before taxes instead of being free.
If you want to make it free again add the Philips 40x 100 pack CDRs $29.99 - $20 MIR, then have Staples PM Best Buy's price of $19 - $20 Staples rebate = -$1.00
Some people are also sending in a second rebate (off the CDR label) to Philips to get another $20 rebate = -$20 back in your pocket.

An alternative deal is the Cendyne/LiteOn 48x12x48 for $24.99 AR or $29.99 wth 200 CDRs. This Peachtree and the Verbatim with taxes + the $10 for most people would be around $26. Link to 48x CenDyne

did this deal with MS Money 2003 - ordered online. Called CS after the fact to see if I could get the 35 applied. Predictably, the csr declined (gave all the reasons stated above "not ciombined with other offers") so I asked her if there would be any problem with the rebate and she was emphatical that there would be no problem. And she was one of those very confident CSRs so I believe she knew her stuff.

I ordered the CD-RW, and the Peachtree software.. I actually had an old Quicken CD laying around, and got the $30.00 upgrade rebate too....
Went to take the Peachtree to Ebay.. There's TONS of people selling them now.. All with "UPS code carefully removed".. Hehehe...

FYI - I checked the status of my Peachtree $165 MIR this morning and it shows as approved despite assurances from three different CSR at Parago that it would be denied if I sent a copy of the UPC for this particular rebate. I will still wait until I receive the check until I submit the manufacturer upgrader $30 MIR, but at least we know that Staples/Parago?s unofficial policy of accepting UPC copies has not changed with the new rebate processing center in Miami and is also appears that the Miami rebate center is continuing the McAllen TX tradition of expedited rebate processing.

Warning: Staples is claiming the $40 rebate is not valid, although the PDF rebate paper clearly shows that the rebate ends on 9/30/2002.

Anybody else is having the same problem???
