I love when people give away a phone card based on $ instead of minutes. $50 could be 1 minute worth of calls (if they charge $50/minute).. They should really base phone calls on minutes and then charge extra minutes for out of country calls.

The price, however, is excellent! 🙂

Thanks, zootallures!

I got a call from an MCI rep, yesterday, and, with their "200 minute for 10.95" deal, they throw in a free 50.00 prepaid calling card, and, first three months you get double minutes( 400 minutes for the 10.95) and, that's for instate and outstate calls. I hope I heard the rep out right, will know more in a few days when I get my packet, because I went for the deal. I may have misunderstood, but, I'm pretty sure she said I'm getting a prepaid 50.00 card, too.

MCI is one of the worst phone companies in the world.

If a rep calls you make sure you get his/her name, phone number, and extension.

An MCI rep told me I'd get 300 free minutes, a free 800 number, and 5 cents a minute all the time.

Guess what, for the first 2 bills I didn't get any of the 300 minutes, they charged me $5 for the 800 number, charged me for overseas service which I never requested, and billed me at 6 cents a minute. When I called Customer Service they blew me off. Needless to say I switched to a "no name" company, and am paying 4.5 cents a minute, plus 4.0 cents a minute to 5 of my most called states.

I refused to pay the last MCI bill, and they turned it over to a collection agency. I send the agency a copy of my complaint to the FCC and the FTC and haven?t heard from them again.

MCI sucks big time.

When those reps offers you a plan, make sure you repeat what they told you when they transfer you to their supervisor for confirmation. AT&T called me with an offer, I kept telling them no, and they kept upping their offer. Finally was offered 5 c/min 24/7, no monthly fees, and free long distance for 6 months. Well I got my first bill, $4.95 monthly fee, no free long distance, and 10c/min. And I had been talking all I wanted thinking it was free.

Turns out they independently contract those phone reps, (they aren't AT&T employees), and pay them commision based on how many people they sign up. And when I called back to complain, they didn't even have anyway of knowing which rep called and lied to me. What a way to run a business. Well DUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Wonder if they are looking for any more phone reps. I believe I could sign up a bunch of people and make a large commission by offering to pay THEM 10 c/min for all their long distance they use.

I used to do part time sales long ago for MCI (as an MCI employee, not a third party employee). I encourage anyone who gets a call from MCI to ask that their number be taken off the list and hang up!

It was unbelievable what some people would say to get people to sign up, knowing that the person they signed would never get what was promised. MCI does have a third party verifier to ensure you are not switched without your permission. But the TPV's have NO IDEA what plan the sales rep signed you up on, so don't think that keeps you from getting screwed.

There was actually one guy up there that would get old people on the phone and tell them the TPV was just to verify their phone line worked and to answer yes to all questions. These people would be switched without even knowing they did!!

MCI sucks big time!

This "Freebie" is totally bogus. Lifeline knows nothing about this CatholicFreebies site. The only way to get a $50 is to change your Long Distance service to Lifeline.

>>>MCI is one of the worst phone companies in the world.<<<

I agree; MCI is the worst, and I would never do business with them. Several years ago, I got an offer for $250.00 of 'free long distance' from MCI to be used within my first 60 days with MCI (I believe it was offered through John Stefanchik/The Stefanchik Group if memory serves me). I used $225.00 in long distance and kept records of all my calls which were all made in the alotted time frame. MCI billed me for the full amount, at a rate per minute that I would never have agreed to. I kept all of the original documentation that they sent me about the offer, and it was all legit, yet after many calls to them, MCI positively refused to honor the terms of their offer. Since the charges appeared with my local phone bill, I finally called my local phone company at the time and they told me to send one letter to MCI detailing the issue and refuse to pay the bill. After that, I never heard from MCI or anyone about the matter, but their disgusting business practices still leave a very bad taste in my mouth about MCI...I wouldn't ever accept anything from this sleazy company again.
