[DEAD for now]: i7-4770K $199.99 at MicroCenter 11/18-11/21

FWIW, I paid 229.99 + tax for an i7 2700k in September 2012 from Micro Center.

They may have this price again; doubt it will go any lower.

VERY Tempting. I have a Microcenter near me here in VA. But I'm not sure I want to bother overhauling my entire system right now.

I want my affordable 8 core CPU's already, damnit. 🙂

Tried to order but 0 in stock in Massachusetts.

If you are using online and phone to check inventory you may be out of luck. They do this on purpose so you can drive to the store. They don't even pick up the phone...on purpose. It's a pain but if you really have to have it, drive there 🙂

Actually they are. The online inventory just hasn't updated. Ask me how I know 😉

I just got back from there with one. They had plenty in stock. I did call ahead and they let me know they were in stock. All the signs and stickers still said 279.99 but they rang it up for me at 199.99 I wonder if they would have tried to charge me full price if I did not ask about the online price first. Either way I am backing up some files now and getting ready to install this sucker. I was getting ready to sit this generation out, again, until this deal came through. Pretty excited.

I guess I'm overhauling my system as I just ordered one to pick up tomorrow. Couldn't pass it up for this price. Not a huge upgrade from my 2500k but I should notice it when compressing video at the least.

When I get a new 1150 motherboard will my current Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU cooler still work?

You guys think this will be the lowest we will see on this?
I don't think it will go lower than this until right before it goes EOL, but at that point it's a mad rush and super hit or miss. I think they clearanced the 2700K at like $180 and the $2600K at like $160, don't think I have seen similar yet for the 3770K. Typically $200 is the lowest though for the performance mainstream Intel chip, it will probably go up to $230 after this if history is any indicator.

You won't be sorry, it's a pretty huge upgrade from 1st gen i7 even running it stock. I was comparing to a 4GHz 920 and the stock 4770K was still faster. If you have any SATA3/6G SSDs, even more noticeable gains, especially on boot up. Big difference in power consumption too.

Agreed. 🙁

x2 this. Every time I go to Fry's and have issues I namedrop MicroCenter and explain how I wouldn't be here if MicroCenter on Homestead was still around. It's just silly that MC decided to leave the entire area instead of doing the smart thing and relocating to a non-terrible location; Homestead was just a horrible area for a tech shop.

Yeah this is probably the lowest this is getting without being EOL/pricing error.

So tempted to get the Haswell i7 but it's a bummer I would need a new mobo. My i5 2500k is at 4.6 and I only use my rig for gaming. Though this is an excellent price.

You know you want to make that 2500k a Plex server and get an i7

I was looking for an LGA 1155 CPU for about a week now, this could not have come up at a better time. Luckily, I live close to a Micro Center so this deal is perfect for me!

Now a question up for debate... Several weeks ago I bought an i5 LGA 1150 4570k combo at micro center... A couple of days ago I f***ed up the CPU while OCing so I exchanged it for a new one... You guys think they will let me exchange the 4670k for a 4770k? 😀

People have been able to do a price match at Staple.com using live chat, my i7-4770K from Staples is set to be delivered on Friday.

What, seriously? That's awesome! Newegg wouldn't even budge with their prices when the difference between the CPUs was only like $20 or $30!

Do you have a Kill-A-Watt to do a rough estimate on power usage?

I was on the fence about grabbing one of these deals to upgrade the i7 920 box, but the 920 @ 3.33 no HT was 100 watts at idle and 223 at load playing a game. 2700k @ 4.3 no HT was 95 watts idle and 224 at load playing a game.

Weird; it shows as $249; are you sure it is $199 ? Hum seems to be 249 in boston and 199 in KS go figure.

I got Staples to price match via live chat. $217.02 shipped for me with 8.517% tax.

Not a huge upgrade over my 4670, but that price can't be beat. Hell, I paid more than that for the 4670.

I did not have a lot of time to play around with it last night but the Asus auto OC took it the 4.5 stable. With auto volt on it peak at 1.27 while stress testing. The surprise for me was temps. Running Prime95 at those settings I hit mid to high 50s with a simple Hyper 212+ and stock cooler master thermal compound.

Once I get a little time I plan to start manually fine tuning that to see how much more wiggle room I have and if I can manually lower voltage and stay stable.

Bummer, staples live chat said I have to call their customer service number. I won't have time until tonight. It will save me a half hour drive to MC, though.

Bummer, Micro Center did not let me buy the 3570k because I bought a 4670k about a month ago... I will have to have a friend go and pick it up for me...

my MC isn't showing the asrock extreme4 board in stock, otherwise i might jump on this

Picked up my 4770k today and I was surprised. No push to buy other items. Just a quick ask if I wanted the extended warranty. I said no and that was it.
As I left I was tempted to go in and try to buy another one to sell at my cost to someone on this forum but I chickened out at the last minute. I might go back with my brother if he wants to take a ride.

Gotta love the hot deals forum! Now to find a motherboard... I'm mATX and I didn't like what they had in stock there. Probably should have gone for the Asus P8Z87mpro actually for $110.

Now the 4770k is sitting on my speaker next to the monitor just staring at me.
