[dead] EVGA 9600GSO 512MB - $50 AR FS

@ $50.00 this is also cheaper than any other 9600GSO deal I have ever seen.

this card is like 15% slower than the 9600GSO 384/768mb, but is also about 15% less money

It is a good deal for the money, but it is not a 9600gso 384/768 or 9600gt 512mb but $50.00 is less than all those have ever been.

You will have a very hard time finding a better card for $50.00, that is the real proff of getting your money's worth.

If you are on a tight budget, this will still play every game out at medium to high detail, just not at high resolutions, above maybe 1024 x 768, but at 1024 x 768 this will play every game well.

Howzabout my 17" CRT monitor at 1024x1280 setting? I'm not a big gamer, but it'd be nice to play those games decently.

This would work fine, but I found the the 9600GS 768 for 50 bucks at frys last week. Not sure if its still around but I'd get that instead.

Man, these 50 dollar cards are waaaayyyyyyyyy better than 50 dollar cards ever used to be. FX5200 anyone?

Last fall $36 AR got you an EVGA 9600GSO 384Mb 96 shader card. Had single and dual slot versions. Got one. Wish I'd bought both models. The EVGA rebate was lightning fast too.

I don't remember that deal, I did get 8800gs for like $56.00 after rebate, that was the cheapest i ever got and i got several other in the $60 to $67 range.

like my 9600gt ssc I got for $67.00 after $40.00 rebate. several months ago.

A link to the old $36.00 deal would be nice, that would have to have been the best deal ever.

Depends... there were some 9600 GSO cards made with DDR2. No matter how much RAM, that would be a crippled card.

Here is an example
XFX 9600GSO Fatal1ty 768MB PCI-Express Video Card
Memory Type: DDR2
Memory Size: 768 MB
Memory Speed: 1.0 GHz

The only "fatal1ty" part about it is that it is fatally slow. XFX also lists some 9600 GSO cards with 800MHz DDR2.

Same here. It's still in my system.

It's always kind of baffled me why Fatal1ty always seems to endorse low to mid-range video cards. I'm sure I saw his branding on an 8500GT...

perhaps he sold his name, and no longer has any say over which cards are branded as "fatal1ty".

Although this suffers in performance, it is for it's class probably one of the more power efficient cards out there. At least until the 9600gt 55nm green editions or the RV740 40nm the hit the shelves.

48 shaders just ain't gonna cut it for me 🙁 I don't want a card for gaming, I want one for encoding to h.264 🙂 Okay, and some gaming...

If you figure the game is worth $15 or $20 to you, that makes the card $30 to $35AR (8600GTS price point). I might talk myself into this after all.

My 9600GSO 96 shader G92 seems to be a so-so overclocker at 690 cpu 1000 mem (earlier 8800GS often did better). This new G94 model might be on a better piece of silicon and OC well, although I'd still prefer to have more shaders.
