I have a q6600. Is it worth looking into the q9400? I also have to see if the HP I have (Asus mb) will take it, but I want to know if I should bother.

Not worth it IMO.

FYI: Dell Home has the Q9400 for $187.49 with free shipping if you use coupon code B0FP12N2JW5L2L before 31 March. You can use this same code on the E8500 for $164.99 shipped. Very good deal.

OMG that's hot on the Q9400. Almost as cheap as with Micro Center B&M deal of $179.99, plus I don't have to drive 180 minutes round trip and the lower WI tax (versus Chicago tax for MC) slightly offsets the higher initial price. Mmmmmaybe I'll get one.

Wow you guys are best! Such a nice friendly group of people here. 😛

But really I don't know what happened to my post count. I was active here many years ago and when I decided to be a part of the Anandtech community again, my account info was retained but I was stripped of my posts for some reason.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, my 2160 is running at 3.2 also. Deal is dead now but newegg has free shipping.

you wouldn't get that big a bang with a 5200... little more cache, couple hundred mhz... not that big a deal...
