I saw this included in a thread somewhere else but a search for "muvo" comes up empty. At my Bestbuy B&M store they were still tagged at $129 and $169 respectively but they rang up at $99 and $129. This is a pretty steep discount considering the 256mb version just came out a month ago and was starting at $180-$200.

Is there anything more discouraging than the cold indifference of a no-reply post?

Are these the ones that have no display? they are pretty no frills right? It seems like you get more value out of the MPIO, the IRIVER, or even and apacer or megastick. The iriver and MPIO are a little mroe but the apacer is less and the megastick is less

Both items are on clearance so grab them why you can... there's a new muvo coming out to replace them

Also worth considering are the MPIO DMK players which are now $119.99 for the 256 MB model AR, and $79.99 for the 128 MB model.

Personally, I like the MPIO better, all you have to contend with is the woefully translated Engrish manual.

Compared to the other ones out there the Muvo is supposed to have the best sound quality. My wife has the iRock 860 and sound is definitely better on the Muvo. Only disadvantage is no FM tuner.

Well, I went to the locat BB and picked up the 256 MB. Haven't tried it yet. I hear that the ear buds that come with it suck but that the sound quality is nice!

The voice recorder will come in handy, too. Too many times has someone said something in a meeting and managed to deny it later... Not any more!

keep in mind people that the New muvo TX will replace the NX ...

I have a muvo and if you plan on transfering alot of songs be prepared to wait.... each of my songs takes about 5-8 seconds each so if you want to transfer even ten songs... be prepared to wait a minute or more. The problem with the NX was that USB1.1 is still used so if you have the 256mb version it would take you close to 15 minutes to fill that thing up.

The TX came out so fast to replace the NX because of this reason, and now features usb2.0 which can transfer a song is about 1-2 seconds. Consequently with a faster transfer rate it becomes more feasible to increase the capacity to 512mb. (try transfering 512mb on usb1.1 :Q )

Hope this helps. Not trying to thread crap, but trying to inform so that you can make an educated decision.

Yes the earbuds suck. I am using a Phillips set now and it's vastly superior. My Senn MX-400's are on the way.

Also the transfer time thing is well worth the discount for me...I put a bunch of music on it and then don't change anything for a month so the 30s saved does not amount to much for me in the long run.

I have one of the Older Blue Battery Pack Muvo's without the LCD screen (128mb model)

I paid 160 for it including shipping two years ago @ jandr.com

I bought it after many reviews, after debating with irivers, nomads, yepps, and the like.

Basically if you want a no frills, simple, small (and trust me it is SMALL with excellent battery life on 1 AAA battery) go for the muvo.
It's an excellent player which you plug in to ur computer directly (via USB) and drag and drop songs onto it. Its that simple. (USB 1.1)

As an added bonus, you can use it as a portable drive, uploading ur documents or whatever needs be on these drives. How's that for slickness.

If you're the picky consumer that requires an LCD and many other functions like shuffle, crossfade, and a 10gb space (I still dont' see why) Stay away from the muvo.

The models we are talking about here have the LCD. They are far from no-frills. Full user defined EQ, folders, voice recorder.

I have a 256mb one and I love it. It's enough space for me and you seriously can not tell that it is in your pocket. I get scared that i lost it all the time and it's hidden deep in my pants pocket :)

I grabbed one of the 256MB ones for my wife for her bday. Looks like one hell of a deal. Haven't tried it yet but I can't wait to see how it works.

Honestly, I could care less about the drop in transfer time. the difference between 2 seconds and 6 seconds is absolutle meaningless to me. Serioulsy, I can choose all the files, drag them, and then go take a dump or brush my teeth :p

And with 256MB the files will very rarely be changed. Thats alot of sotrage space IMHO. I know some people love to have 30 GB and encode every CD they have, but honestly if I can fit 20 songs on thats more than enough for me.
