I recently got a message upon POST stating that my ac adapter was not fully functioning, and that I may not be able to charge my battery. I don't remember if my battery ran out of juice or stopped charging first. Frankly, I don't care to reconcile the chicken and the egg.
My friend has an identical model laptop, and can still use+charge his original battery. What harm, if any, could come from giving him my battery to try and charge over night?
I'd like to do this, bc the battery is a 'smart' one, so if I got a new shiny ac adapter, but the battery has a remaining charge less than the smart cell requires to initiate a charge cycle- I've just bought a new ac adapter, and now need a battery. Knowing both need to be replaced up front will likely sway me to look into a new laptop. But not if the battery can still charge.
