Thanks, nice thread with the link to the review even.

Seems like a great deal for it. For me, thing is it's hard to justify - mainly for gaming, and using a 27" LCD now that is 'just fine'.

But better colors are nice. If I did want to upgrade though, there's also the question of this or a 30".

Fantastic Monitor. Got it back when it was on sale last time for $650 and the resolution compared with the color accuracy and great viewing angles make this my primary monitor (and I'm on a laptop!)

Remember you need Display Port to be able to use this monitor's full resolution.

Is this monitor even worth $650? Wheww that's expensive. In either case, I'm not seeing the $650 price on Amazon unfortunately.

In short, if you can use the features yes it is. With a real IPS panel (not 6bit like the 2713), extremely high resolution, and great color reproduction out of the box, along with decent input lag levels, you won't find a better monitor until you move up to Eizo, NEC, and other imaging focused monitors (that are useless for games or movies)

EDIT: I stand corrected on the 2713. Note kevinsbane's post below :)

Those are not better colors, but more colors.
30" was tested by me, but was too large for my viewing distance. 27" is perfect.

The U2713hm does have true 8-bit colour. And uses a "real" IPS panel. It is, however, not wide-gamut like the U2711 is (this feature is often a drawback)

I stand corrected :) Right now the u2711 is cheaper than the u2713 (this often is not the case). But you are right kevins, in reviews it looks like that unless you have need for wide gamut (I do, but I understand this is not common!), you will be served well by either monitor, with the bonus that the u2713 also has USB 3.0 and a lower-power LED backlight.

Isn't 12ms response rate kinda high??

Everyone is different about that sort of thing and there's a lot of debate over it. The 2711 has about 15-17ms of input lag, which is high for TN panels (several times higher), but low compared to other IPS panels and paltry compared to PVA and MVA.

The GTG Response time (like the rest of the industry measures by) is only 6ms, which is well in the range of most TN panels.

I do not notice any lag at all even in FPS'. Others very well may.
