Having worked on those drug store photo lab printers, they're usually thermal deposition printers that use CMY "ribbons" that overlay each other on a special photo stock paper. There's no ink bleed what so ever to speak of and the pictures will never smear at all when subjected to water. The resolution is also a lot better than the best interpolated inkjet can give you. And to be fair, the CPU will be much more current than a P3, but even if it's not, it doesn't really matter because it's the printer that's doing the work and not the computer in the kiosk. The only drawback is always the source media and the fact that it's a digital print.

Im talking about the fuji/kodak kiosks. Are you talking about the higher end stuff they do in the "lab"

That's exactly what I'm talking about. They're not "ink-jet" printers. At least the Kodak ones weren't.

So anyword on Linux support? I would need it to work in CUPS

There are no Linux drivers for it, so take that for what you will. Deal is dead anyway, price is up to $129.99.

So, based on the conversation here, I found this printer on Amazon for $116. They have the toner refill kit (all four colors + chips) for $27. I grabbed one, set it up this weekend. All I can say is WOW I love this printer! Took all of five minutes to set up on wired PC, then introduced it to my wireless network, within another ten minutes had it set up on my HTPC in living room and my girlfriend's laptop.

Very nice print quality, this is my first laser printer so it might be standard but I'm certainly impressed. Very happy with purchase!
