I probably depends on where you fell - they probably got allot of orders from this and those early on probably got in the queue early for building and shipping. I ordered one around noon on Monday, and it was still in the Production phase late that evening without anything else when I ordered the 3.2 version and cancelled the first order. My 3.2 version is still in the Production phase with no other progress as of early evening today (Tues).

What I don't understand is it is scheduled to ship Friday with 2 day shipping but not arrive until Tues Feb 2.

It's kinda funny. I was at the checkout and I tabbed back to Apex to get the coupon code and then I see the update at the bottom of the page for the 3.2 upgrade. I was happy I saw that to say the least. Anywho, heres what I got:
Dimension 8400 Pentium® 4 Processor 540 with HT Technology (3.20GHz, 800 FSB)
Memory 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512M)
Monitor FREE UPGRADE! 19 in E193FP Flat Panel Display
Video Card 128MB PCI Express? x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon? X800 SE
Hard Drive 80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
CD ROM/DVD ROM Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
Sound Card Sound Blaster Audigy?2 (D) Card w/Dolby 5.1, and IEEE 1394 capability
Grand Total w/Tax = 1134.44; 1047.62 w/o

I messed up upgrading the soundcard since I already have a SB Audigy 2 Platinum. I have two 36GB raptors in my current system so I will just transport that over to the Dell (I'm assuming Intel-based RAID is built-in).

Oh, I also got their preferred credit account with interest-free financing till April. I mean, how can this deal get any better?

I really hope that I can get $350 for the E193FP on ebay. That would make the deal rock solid.

When did you order?

Around 8 PM PST on 10/25.

My "re-order" to get the 3.2 Ghz CPU for same price as the 3.0 was placed around 11:30pm EST - just before the coupon deal was to end (officially - 11pm CST = 12pm EST).

As of 9:50 EST Tuesday, the status is still the same - "This order has been released to manufacturing and is in assembly", no other details than that.

8PM yesterday and it shipped already? My 3.0 was like 2pm and was packing at 6, canceled at 8 and reordered at about 9, hasn't moved since 🙁

I got in on the 3.2 deal yesterday around 8est and my order still says inproduction like yours tech, hopefully it moves forward quick tomorrow.

What shipping service does dell use, ups? do they deliver on saturday?

I've gotten fedex, ups, and airborne express from them. Friend of mine runs a company says he gets it through Conway freight, but they buy pallets. Also told me to not trust the online status, he's had "supposed to be in production show up on our dock".

I ordered mine on Monday around 2pm I think. Its status was "Shipped" when I checked it Tuesday morning on the Dell site, but has been "Billing Information Received" on the UPS site since Tuesday morning also. I chose 2 day shipping and was hoping to get it today since it was "Shipped" on Tuesday according to Dell, but I suppose UPS is being lazy and hasn't even picked it up yet from Dell... 😛

I guess I just need to be patient 🙂

Almost 1pm on wed and it hasn't moved from in production. I did just get a dell catalog in the mail, guess their paper mail moves faster then their computers

I passed this on to 2 friends that were looking for new computer that bought this system. I'm glad to let Dell handle the tech support.

Anybody know what brand of DVD burners Dell has been using?

I'd call but I don't feel like sitting on hold for 2 hours to be told "we can only see as much as you can on your status".

Edit: If you go like you're buying a new 8400...scroll down to monitors, under 19" LCD it says it may delay your ship date. Click on it and it says:

Item Delay Time*
19 in E193FP Flat Panel Display 2 days

shipped 🙂

I am assuming my system will come with a dvi adapter since the 6800gto has 2 dvi plugs and the lcd is not dvi. I checked to see if I could find anything about it on dells site with no success, but it would seem stupid to ship out computers not ready out of the box.. right?

Oh oh!

Mine finally changed status from generic "In Production", to showing both Kitting and Build checked and it is in the Testing phase.

Is it bad to leave a flat panel on all the time? This is my first one.

Good question - I've never owned a flat panel before so this will be new to me too. I do leave my CRT's on all the time - they have the sleep mode and energy saving feature.

One more questin. I have Z560's and I am not getting any sound out of the rear speakers. I figured it was the onboard audio so I put my Turtle Beach card in and am still having the problems. Anyone have any ideas?

Not sure about that. I know with my Epox 8RDA+, it can be set up to have 2 channel sound and the other inputs are microphone and sound-in. But you can go into the BIOS and switch it to 6 channel sound so the other two plugs become sound outputs. Perhaps the Dell 5.1 has a BIOS setting too?

Got mine this morning, would have had it yesterday but UPS gave me a huge run around with picking it up because I wasn't there to sign. They had me going out to their facility at 8:30pm to pick it up, only to find that there special "pick up door" was closed for the night....grrrr

Anyway, the system is sweet! My only question is about the GForce 6800 GTO. Someone mentioned earlier that this is the GT version Overclocked, but according to the CoolBits window it says that the CPU is running at 350Mhz and the Memory is running at 900MHz. I thought that the Overclocked versions ran at 370MHz? I haven't tried the "Auto Overclock" feature yet, but I will 🙂

Thanks again Apex!
