Whats this about different LCD product numbers/revisions for the 1800FP?

Is Dell making a new 1800FP, is that why these are being sold out?

Can we get one of these new monitors by sending these back? Just kidding. But... can we?

My 1800FP said it was assembled in February 2003. That seems pretty new to me considering this monitor came the Summer of 2002. Do we have the new version? Or do we have the old one, if this rumor about the 16 ms 1800FP LCD monitor is true.

DELL's business is absolutely impressive.. I don't think anybody want to be a competitor of DELL..

I am really happy with 1800FP.. i totally recommend it. I bought a EP171 two months ago, returned it back to DELL, that one is not good. too bright, also very blurry, and at its native resolution, the images/letters are just too small..

1800FP is just right.. it's perfect.. for me at least.. after returning EP171, I thought all LCD screens are no good, I was actually planning on getting a 19" CRT, thank god I didn't do that.. 1800FP is so much better, I think my eyes is actually feeling better compared to my old 17" sony CRT..

if by this time next year, this LCD say drops to $250, I'll buy another one.. that would be so perfect..

of course.. perfect is not as perfect as iMAC screens.. especially I can't adjust the DELL 1800FP up or down.. but it's good enough..

UPS dropped mine off last night....All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Not one complaint here....Screen is 100% perfect....No dead pixels....Text looks great to me....Color saturation looks even....Image is very bright and crisp....Pretty much exceeds my expectations.

My only complaint is I couldn't get the screws to grab on my DVI connector to my eVga Ti4200 Thinks I just gotta shift my card a little in the slot tho

I got my 1800FP yesterday and I am also totally pleased! I have never had an LCD monitor before, and this blows my old 17" Trinitron out of the water. A great big thank you to luv2save who posted this deal!

Maybe this explains 2 different dell item numbers - for monitors made in Mexico and Korea.

Has anyone tried using both the DVI and analog cables on the same computer? It looks like this monitor can switch between cables, but it does say in the manual not to plug both cables on the same computer. I'm thinking "the same computer" may mean "the same video card..." I have a Hollywood+ MPEG-2 decoder board that has an analog VGA-out that I want to try with the monitor.

What're the risks of running my monitor at 85Hz? I had to uncheck the 'Hide modes that monitor cannot display' option. I'm also running on an All-In-Wonder 8500DV. Please keep replies strictly to my initial question, and not my video card...thank you

There won't be any risks, but your image quality is going to blow.

None, since the DVI connection automaticaly defaults to 60hz, setting it to a higher refresh rate does almost nothing. I have mine set at 100 since it makes my mouse more precise by allowing it to update on screen more often.

My screen looks somewhat concave; deeper in the center with the left and right sides folding a bit forward. More pronounced at the 1280 X 1024 optimal resolution. DVI connection. Dell tech said that this is typical for flat screens. Comments?

Great links. Still not sure I have mine correctly calibrated. What brightness and contrast settings are others using?

Scortme, your concave problems is likely a figment of your imagination. Often referred to as the fishbowl effect. It has to do with tha fact that your used to looking at a monitor that actually curves outward, meaning the center sticks out farther then the sides. After viewing those all your life, then switching to a flat monitor, the flatness appears concave, this should go away in a few days. Only took me like 2 days to get used to my Mom's and I didn't notice it at all on my monitor.

Thanks coolred. My experience has only been with a monitor that curves outward and I haven't had my 1800FP long enough to "adjust". Just out of curiosity what are your brightness and contrast settings on the 1800FP?
