Can someone answer why some of you guys buy more than 1 LCD? I can see maybe if you have an extreme gaming rig where your using 2 or 3 of the same monitor but that is a limited case. The only other answer is that your going to sell them on ebay. That's fine too, anyone have another reason for more than 1?

I was able to resist this one myself. While I really wanted to pull the trigger, I decided to wait. I like my 19" Viewsonic PF790 CRT very much and I don't really need a flat panel outside of the coolness factor. Now I think I figured out how to fix my printer problem thanks to HP's tech support (they are great by the way) so I might have a few bucks more to put toward a Pentium 4 core for my PC. Giga-byte GA-8INXP mobo, P4 2.4 Ghz processor, and 512 MB or 1024 MB of PC2700 DDR ram.

possible reasons:

1) family, friends?
2) There are video cards that can output to 2 or more monitors.
3) paperweights
4) Yahoo Auctions

I'm waiting for more dual-DVI (high-end) cards and the next gen 19'' with 15ms or less before I go duallie. It was soooooo hard resisting the 1900FP deals. That set-up will rock though!!!

Why two monitors? I'll venture to explain why.

Once you have tried two at a time, you'll never go back.

My work requires multiple documents or spreadsheets to all be open at one time so that alterations can be made. With one monitor, switching back and forth between windows is a pain and more likely to allow errors in data entry. Dual monitors with the extra desktop space is a real help to productivity. A single 20" LCD might work, but the 1200x1600 is too small for my eyes.

I did have a pair of 19" CRTs that worked great but caused eye strain after a few hours of work. This 18" LCD causes no eye strain but is just too small a display for my uses. Colors are more than satisfactory. Small print could be a bit better in Adobe documents; but, enlarging the display with a second monitor will fix that.

At $418, this is too good to pass up. It will last at least 2 years before an upgrade will be needed.

Regarding the 15% off for joining the Dell mailing list... I've called Dell twice now to ask about that coupon, and they say that it comes when it comes. Anyone have success changing the 10% to the 15% mailing-list coupon? Do they keep track of when I call, or can I keep calling back and they wont know that I called before?

I have 7 rigs to provide monitors for in my house so I needed to upgrade more than 1 monitor. I'm in the tech world and run my own home/SB network.

Ack!

My order magically disappeared from the Dell system. They claim ignorance and now my shopping cart is empty. Does anyone still have this item in their cart and would be willing to email their cart to me so I can re-place the order?

I called them today because I had not yet received my email confirmation. They stated the purchase was deleted and no reason was cited and if I would like to reorder the item, just enter the site and reorder the item(s). Then I started getting the infamous Dell Forward where you sit for an hour in a phone queue waiting for the next person to pick up just to tell you you need a different department, rinse repeat.

After an hour, I thought it would be faster to see if someone had the item in their cart still and would be willing to email me their cart.

good luck to everyone who got in on this deal.

Yeah Dell is insanely fast with shipping, its too bad their order confirmation process is such a PITA. I got my 1900FP before my order even registered in their system (ordered 7pm est, arrived 10am next day)!!! I couldn't even pull the order online until two weeks afterwards lol!!

I've got one of the 1800FP's I received today hooked up to a GF3 thru the standard 15pin VGA port, and used the 41.09 detonators. I installed the 1800FP (analog) monitor driver, and proceeded to tweak the monitor settings a bit. I switched the color to 9300K, and had to set brightness and contrast to 100% for it to look really nice. Overall I was happy with the current setting.

However since I had a spare TI4200 I was able to hook the 1800FP up thru DVI and change the monitor driver to the 1800FP (digital). As if you didn't already know, DVI will yield a sharper and brighter image.

I am stoked! Time to hook up the other one now for some dual action.
