Yes you needed to or had to have already gotten in on the OD 79.99 deal and no longer can you get the $25 deal because it is now OOS at OD. But you still can get the 48.50 deal if there are any left at your BEST BUY until closing today because the staples flyer ends today. HURRY before the fereingi get there.

Thanks trainwreck, I'm going to staple and bestbuys to try this deal right now.
Simplified:

1)Grab a staples flyers from their store showing $99.94 for the hardrive.
2)Take it to Best buy and pray they price match their $129.99 price for the same harddrive.
3)Best buy drive has a $30 rebate and $20 gift card
4)Get drive for ~$48.50 after price match, rebate, and silly $20 gift card

As for the OD deal, it'll be very hard to get it to work.

I think, still not sure, these are 4 platters drives 10 gigs each, I have a maxtor 30 gig version with 3 platters. Mine has a 15000 winbench 99 high end score....
storage review has 24000 score for the new maxtor(4 x 40 gig platter) ones. Does anyone know if RAIDING 2 x 40 gigs of these will be faster than just getting a new 80 gig(40 gig platter) one?

Now why couldn't I have said it that way because I was stupid and added in the OD deal with it and everyone only saw the $25 that's why

I did this deal at BB and inside my box was a Maxtor D740X-6L drive. This is a great drive, 7200rpm, ATA/133. It is a Quantum/Maxtor drive that is rated very high in all of the reviews. $50 bucks for this drive is a great deal. Here's a review: D740X

Done Deal! Thanks.

Just picked the drive up and walked to the front, pointed at the staples drive (not saying a word) Guy scrutinized the add and rung it up. You could tell he was not happy when all the rebate stuff started printing out, I think he felt like he had been had. I bet he will not do same match for next person.

thanks for posting your success guys everyone likes to see some validation so they feel more confident in their own attempts in all deals.

Trainwreck,

Thanks for posting the original deal. You beat me to it, I was out buying mine and came back to post the deal when I saw you already had. Getting this drive at this price was great, so I hope your earlier post enabled more people to get in on the deal.

I assumed that it was retail because it comes with a three year warranty, but some of the other Maxtor oem's listed at pricewatch show oem. At any rate, the web page doesn't state that it's oem, so I don't see why you couldn't PM it with your AMEX.
