DEAD DEAL :( Seagate 300gb IDE $129.99 - $50 MIR @ Outpost.com

Shows $6.75 shipping for me, not bad. Sells for $175 shipped at newegg. Nice find OP.

Edit: And the huge rip off of tax in Ohio; there is no frys in the state, and we have to pay tax on outpost.com orders. Must be a warehouse or office in Ohio, sucks. Tax and shipping eat 31% of the rebate 🙁 .

Oupost is extremely fair on shipping. You can add something to this and shipping will be combined. UNLIKE NEWEGG!!! Newegg factors shipping into their price.

You know, "TODAYS ONE DAY SPECIAL" $39.99 ($4.00 shipping). The day before it was at regular price $43.99 with free shipping.

OUTPOST AND FRY'S RULE!!!

Well the $/GB could be better, about 2 years ago I got the 120Gb WD from CC for $10+tx after 3 rebates 🙂, but I need a big HD and I'm running out of ide connections.
And I prefer the FIVE year warranty.
Break the drive in 4.5 yrs and get free replacement.

That is such a Kicken deal.
I just bought the exact hard drive 3 days ago from the Circuit-City deal and that cost $180 before the two $40 dollar rebates. With tax and everything I will have paid $115 once I get the rebates.
This deal is much better. I am thinking of getting this one as well, but I am not sure if I would be eligible because of what they say in this rebate;

"This rebate may not be combined with any other promotional offer from Seagate. Only one rebate will be issued per SKU per household."

What do you think would I be able to do this deal too?

Newegg says this is an IDE drive. Is it? I need it for my xbox.

The title of the thread specifically says IDE, so I would assume this drive is indeed an IDE drive.

I completely missed that, whoops! Ordered one, thanks OP

With harddrive space so cheap now. I wonder if anyone still uses harddrive compressions. I remember the good old days when I used drivespace on my 80 MB harddrive and got 160MB! (yes that's megabytes not a typo for GB).

Yeah, pr0n takes up a lotta space! 😉 Actually, just need a bigger drive for my MCE2k5 box.

Thanks, OP! Awesome deal!

I just posted the same thing a week ago. Tiger Direct had them for $95- 300GB Seagate 7200.8 PATA with 8mb Buffer.

My guess is that porn drives a good deal of computer technology. Who needed DSL and cable to download welding videos?

I just read in the newsgroups some strong complaints about the Outpost (and others) rebate process,I'm reconsidering almost..here's an example:
=================

Did anyone ever actually get their rebate. Snailbates is more like it.
After waiting 12 weeks they answered my queries with "Checks in the
mail". Now it is 4 weeks later an NADA!
Outpost responded with "It says right on the form you have to wait 8-10
weeks" I wrote back and saying "Then why has it been 16 already?" They
didn't bother answering. I'm filing complaints with the BBB and FTC,
not to mention boycotting Outpost and Western Digital...

spam_only_ple...@comcast.net wrote:

well yeah I did...
They told me it was just mailed, please allow 2 weeks for delivery;
however 4 weeks later no check...Mind you this is after waiting 12
weeks for an advertised 8-10 week process. It seems like malarkey to
me, but I'm just the fool waiting for his money. I'm thinking I will
just go with the "real" price next time and skip the rebates all
together. In my case it was $40 less, without a $60 rebate. Silly
pricing games....not woth the headache.
==================

Anyone here ever go thru the Outpost/Seagate rebate process or should I even be
worrying what with the drive costing $129 before the RB?

I'm like many here though..buy from retailers who rarely play any RB game see I'm
somewhat skeptical. ;=)
