It's not Staples.

It was either Best Buy or Circuit City, can't remember which.

Both, but it's YMMV on MIR with CC. You'll have a greater change of getting your MIR if the rebate forms printed at the register with CC. Best Buy most of the time writes down on the yellow form that the item was pricematched. Can't find a link to Best Buys Pricematch policy on their website. :disgust:

Anyone know of availability of the PD sub in south LA, Long Beach, OC areas of SoCal?

If so, PM me here or email me at russwjohns@aol.com

Or if some kind soul from the SoCal area could email me a receipt scan that I might try to use to PM this deal, you'd have my heartfelt gratitude!

thanks,
...russ

I paid 85 dollars or close to 86 dollars at Officemax out the door and no rebate. Maybe you should just get it from officemax to save you the trouble of waiting for the rebate?

Sorry didnt mention that omax was OOS. I wouldve went to omax if it was in stock :p

Thanks for the idea here. I stopped at local Staples with my OMAX receipt. After a brief (but thorough - even checked the backside for the OMAX logos) look at my OMAX receipt, the Staples smoothly pricematched a PD 8X for the $80 price. Of course, I have to process the Rebates to make this a deal of the year.... :)

Anyone have a receipt in the Portland area I could use to pricematch at some other local store namely OfficeDepot or Staples? Much appreciation would be given. I'll even give ya 10 bucks for your troubles if I can get the DVD drive. Thanks in advance. :)

I went into staples hoping to get the above deal but after a discussion among the workers + the manager, they concluded that they are only able to do a "price guarantee". On top of that, the price after rebate was to be matched with that of OM... which means I would have to pay 104.99 out the door and wait for the $25 rebate.. I passed.

I wish the staples bozos could read their own policy. It specifically states that MIR are not considered. Here's the quote from their online site...

We?ll deduct any available Staples coupons and instant rebates (but not mail-in rebates) from the Staples price to arrive at a net price.

;) If anyone wasn't able to get the OM deal PMed @ Staples, you still have time today (sale ends 1/17/04) to do it on-line without the OM deal, providing you have a $30 off $150 coupon (which I did from an e-mail from Staples) I called to order the PD 8x Dvd-R # 556595. The CSR said that there is an $30.00 IR along with the $25.00 MIR. I asked if I could also use my $30.00 off $150 coupon also? Provided I could take it back up to $150 ? Here's what I/we did. PD $154.94 - $30 IR = $129.94 I added two DVD-R (Memerox #512268) $9.94 (sale price on 10 pack) =$19.88 = $149.82 + .74 for a dozen Pens #441884 = $150.56. Used my coupon code $30 off $150. Then the MIR of $25.00.
$74.94 plus tax.... Still about $81.00 for the PD 8DVD when done. With no coupon you can still get this for around $100. before Tax.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Not in the area you want to know about, but when I was talking to the guy at the Placentia Store (OOS now) he said that the Palm Springs store always has hot items in stock.

Woth a try if you really want one...might end up spending $20 in gas though :(

I would never by another Pacific Digital anything with a rebate. They've screwed me out of around $200 in rebates.

Yep. And their store on the Big Island in Hawaii always shows inventory too. Good if you live there ;)

I was able to get a raincheck if they ever get more of the PD's back in stock. I've only bought a PD cd burner in the past and had no problem getting the rebate.

I had purchased a PD at Staples for last Sunday and picked up one Friday at OM. Today I went to Staples to PM to OM. They told me that todays price at OM on the PD was 149 so that even though I bought it for 79.95, since the sale was over and it was back up to 149 they would not pricematch it( per the store mgr)!

I read the Pricematch sheet that was at the register and there was NO mention of this rule. I asked the girl at the counter and she would not answer my question.

Is this Staples policy or did they screw me? Thanks

Yes, and yes. good news is that I read that OM is is subbing the same drive for another this week at $69.99. Go back to OM, get your price adjustment, then go back to staples and try for the PM again. After the experience I had at staples,I would love to see them have to PM the lower price a few thousand times.
