Just some clarification...

First,if you PM to Staples, you must use the Staples $50 rebate instead of the Lexmark $50 manufacturer rebate since Lexmark will not honor purchases from Staples and several other stores as defined on their website. The only difference between the two rebates is that the Staples offer allows one one per person/address while the Lexmark manufacturer MIR offer allows four per person/address.

Second, confirmed from CompUSA regional management earlier this afternoon - there is no current $50 instant rebate at CompUSA or CompUSA.com on the E210. The $50 instant ended on 3/15. The CompUSA.com web page for the E210 has not updated yet, but will most likely update tonight (5AM EST) or when new stock is available to reflect the current CompUSA.com price of $149.99 .

Third, The current in-store ad on CompUSA.com will be honored by all CompUSA B&Ms. If any CompUSA B&M refuses, call 1-800-CompUSA and select the option for cusomer relations.

Fourth, The current in-store ad on CompUSA.com does not indicate a $50 instant rebate on the e210. The ad states a net price of $99.99 after rebates. The current valid rebate is a $50 Lexmark $50 MIR. The price reflected in the in-store ad is based on the COmpUSa.com price of $149.99 - $50 Lexmark rebate. No instant rebate is given or implied in the in-store ad itself. However, when you click on the link for the in-store ad for the E210 on CompUSa.com it takes you to the product page as described above.

If you plan of PMing or use a CC BVG program, I highly suggenst that you print out the CompUSa.com product page before it updates.

This deal worked great for me... I took a printout to the local store, and the manager was very friendly and adjusted the price to $99 even though it scanned as $199.

:)

I drove 35 miles to Princeton CompUSA, they have 4 e210s on the floor. I picked one and checked out, the price is $199.99. After argued with 2 managers for 10 miniutes and went to the CompUSA website to showed them the ad, they still don't honer their "In-Store Special," they also said CompUsa.com is different company, they don't match their internet price. Super crap crap crap!!!!! I will never buy anything from CompUSA.

Getreal, I'm not sure what web page you are looking at for the compusa rebate, but the rebate is not a compusa rebate, its a link pointing to the exact same rebate Lexmark has on their website, and it expires 5/25.

Also that ad DOES indicate an instant $50 discount showing a total of $49 for instore purchases.

Read my post. I never indicated or implied that the rebate was a CompUSA rebate. As for the price, as stated before and already identified by CompUSA.com the E210 product webpage is incorrect. The instant rebate ended yesterday and as I clearly stated before CompUSA will correct the product webpage tonight or as soon as replinishment stock is received. In either case, the in-store ad never indicated any sort of instant rebate and the $99.99 price indicated on the in-store ad reflects the correct price of $149.99 - $50 manufacturer MIR = $99.99. The current in-store ad never indicated a $49.99 net price. The only indication of such a deal is on the E210 product webpage which has already been found to be in error. As with any deal, YMMV and you may find an incompetent B&M manager who will sell you the E210 at $99.00

puppyfriend, it sounds like the only way people are gonna get it for $20 is if they previously purchased it from OM or Staples AND if the Mgr agrees to pm an item that's OOS AND the MGR doesn't notice the coupon.

The best most of us can get this for is $50 and that's if we print the webpage before Cusa updates the price and use Blue to pm.

North Paramus store(NJ) has 6 in stock. I bought one at Paramus store. It rang up $199 but a manager confirmed it was $99. :D

Yeh, price is $99.99 after $50 Epson MIR. As pomised, the E210 poduct web page on CompUSA.com has been updated to reflect the correct prcie of $99.99 after the $50.00 Epson mail-in rebate and is now in-stock (amazing how these thing happen simultaneously). Congrats to all who got one at the error price befoe the update. ;) I think we can now officially call the $49.99 E210 deal dead.

I just returned from CompUSA. I brought a printout from the CompUSA website I made last night showing the $50 price. I was TWO of these bad boys! How can you go wrong with a $50 laser printer?

I guess the deal is over now. The CompUSA website shows $100 now :(

Well, thanks for a great deal. With a printout of the web page I drove over to the local Compusa yesterday afternoon. A few minutes later I left with an $100 E210 and a rebate coupon from Lexmark for $50 - after tax a new laser printer for $57. I guess it will have good company, sitting with my $5 Epson 480SXU (Staples) and my $50 Epson 875DC (OfficeMax) :D !

i purchased one of these puppies from staples.com yesterday for $70 shipped, but if i could get them to knock off another $50 i'd have one HELL of a deal ;)

It looks like this printer is a rebadged Samsung ML-1210.

Cnet user reviews report that the Samsung driver improves graphics quality AND it also includes an economy mode that reduces toner use by 30% without a noticeable decline in print quality.

I just installed the Samsung 1200 series XP driver on my system and the Lexmark e210 is working great with it. I haven't done a comparison of the graphics quality yet, but the Samsung driver does include the economy mode as reported, and I can't see any difference in text quality between that and the normal mode.

Samsung's U.S. driver link was broken when I tried it, but I found the updated Win XP driver on the U.K. website here.

Lexmark is notorious for selling their printers cheap so they can price-gouge on the inks and toners. That probably explains the lack of an "economy" mode on the Lexmark driver. They'd rather see you run out of toner sooner than later.

I wonder if the Samsung toners fit this printer and come any cheaper. My guess is they probably do, but I haven't done a search yet.

so what is the difference between ising light mode? can't that be considered as a "toner saving" strategy too? For the samsung drivers, you'll notice that the options are "printer setting," "standard," and "saving." what is "printer setting?" I selected "light" and savings together and cannot tell a difference at all. so that leads me to believe that savings mode is equal to or close to "light" mode. they are the same option in different words. what are your opinions?

bump... we need to figure out if the samsung toner works in this puppy! its only $60 for the samsung toner, and if we use those samsung drivers we can use 30% less toner on that economy mode.... makes this a much hotter deal if we can use that samsung toner :D

got my printer today, samsung drivers work great in win2k over here.. i'm printing in the economy mode with 300dpi rather than 600dpi and the prints still look great :)

very pleased w/this purchase
