They are comparable. Samsung 830 is faster at non compressable data and has lower idle power consumption (better battery life). Intel due to being sandforce has better compressible data numbers.

I got this drive for I trust the brand and I like the price (especially since it doesn't have rebates.) I really don't like fixing computers when something goes wrong, but since it is a secondary computer (due to the fact I prefer desktops over laptops) no biggie.

Whenever I click their banner ad for "10% points back to be used at a later date" it states the shop owner date has expired and since that deal was posted on sunday I believe the shop owner day was sunday and they just haven't yanked the ads yet.

i purchased 5x ssds for 700 and I get 70 bucks back via points. I also linked via ebates 3 % and paid with paypal 2 % so 700 - 70 - 21 -14 or 700 - 105 is 595 for 5 drives just under 50 cents a gig. I will sell a few on ebay.


I will build a lacie little big disk 480gb raid0 for about 400 bucks (counting cable) as I purchased a LBD from macmall for 234 - 23 on a special. so 211 then sold the 2 500 gb hdds for 90 on ebay total for the lbd was 121 total for the 2 240gb ssds was 239.

so 360 for a 480gb ssd lacie little big disk thunderbolt version. with cable 410 or so.

thats why I laugh when people say thunderbolt is over priced.

show me a 2 drive raid0 480gb usb3 device for 410. my cable and my ssds have full warranties. 3 years.

Just a note on Buy.com points. They may not allow you to do the bonus points when linking through a cashback purchase. Last time I tried through Shop Discover, and got a message stating such. Also, the fine print states that you will receive points 15 days after product ships, and have 20 days in which to use them or they expire.

EDIT: I tried it linking through Shop Discover and it did not give me any kind of message, and accepted my login. However, it did not show the higher points in my cart.

EDIT2: Okay, 10% points shows up during checkout even if it didn't show up in the cart. This is unlike last time where I got a message stating it was incompatible with linking through cashback offers. I hope I still get my cashback, and I hope there are some nice deals in 15-35 days so I can use those points.

Same thing has stopped me from buying for quite a while but this deal is too good. Plus the reloading is never quite as bad as I think it's going to be. But the thing is I'm going to put 1 of my current smaller SSD's in my HTPC so that another reload. And my soon to be 4 year old daughter wants a computer so the other SSD will go into her build.

it comes with mounting tray screws etc. tray works for many cases not all

I'm going to wait to get a 500gb drive. I have a 128gb now and I don't use it much except for running the OS and I am pretty picky with space.
