I'm having the same problem here, unable to access Dell SB through F@tC@sh and eBates, this sucks!

I just confirmed this with the commodity manager for flat panels - this is NOT a price mistake.

I can honestly say that being an owner of 2 of these bad boys myself, this is the deal of the year at $899, without a doubt. You will not find a 20+" monitor that performs with these amazing response times, brightness, and viewing angle for anywhere close to this price. Not to mention that even specs aside, there is no display I have ever seen that makes 1600x1200 (DVI) look so damn good.

Keep in mind it also has a composite and S-Video input, and does PIP(!) so if you have a cable box that outputs through S-Video you don't even need a TV-tuner and you can watch TV while surfing. Or if you can hook up your PS2/XBox/GC through it as a second input.

If anyone has any Qs on this, I can get answers straight from the source (I work with the lead engineer on these bad boys).

vetteguy I ordered through Dell Small Business which has it for $799 and then applied the 5% discount to it. I live in Oregon where there is no sales tax, so the Small Business deal is much better here. HURRAY! I am still in disbelief about this. I own 4 computers (3 desktops & a laptop)...which my girlfriend thinks is too much now I buy this. UGH, I am really gonna hear it about this one.

Just a couple questions if you don't mind Mani.
Are these indeed actually made by Benq? If not, do you know who they're made by?
Do you know the pixel response time for these?

I'm debating if I should get this or not. I play a lot of games and don't want to get it if there would be a lot of ghosting. I've read mixed reviews about it but most people have gave it positive reviews.

First of all you should clear your cookies and cache, here is a direct link to the Dell 2000FP @ Dell SB

$999 regular price
-20% automatic discount
====================
$799.20 the price you pay BEFORE 5% Dell coupon and 2% eBates or 3% FC

I hope that clarifies it, lemme know if you still do not understand.

I think I can answer some of your questions.

The response time is 25ms and this LCD does not have ghosting even when playing CS.

I'm still undecided, specs wise nothing comes close to the 2000FP for $799 it's an incredible price.

Can someone give their experience on how 1280x1024 looks on these, as thats typically what will be used for gaming.

This is a great deal, but I need some advice. I currently run a Matrox G400 Dualhead setup with two not very high quality 19" CRT monitors running at 1024X768. If I go higher in resolution my eyes (46year old eyes) suffer. I notice that the 17 and 19 inch Dell LCD's run at 1280X1024. And the 20 incher runs at 1600X1200.

1. Is it true that if I don't run them at native resolution the quality will suck? Can one run the 1600X1200 at 800X600 and get very clear text?

2. Isn't 1600X1200 too high to get decent size text and icons? I run two monitors so that I have lot's of real estate that I can see clearly. That's more important than how much I can cram onto the screen.

3. Can I run one LCD and one CRT monitor? (I don't have the $$ to spring for 2 of these big LCD's). And can one be analog and one DVI?

4. What cards offer dualhead and DVI/analog?

5. If I prefer the lower resolutions would I be better off with the 18 or 19 inch monitors? Which one is the best?

6. Would I be better off just waiting and looking for a great deal on two 17inch lcd's and using them dualhead? I figure that I could probably snag two for about $800. For instance, the Dell E171FP is about $400 each. Is this a good LCD? Will I miss having DVI?

Thanks for the input. This is a great deal, but I also want to be happy with my purchase.

PS I don't play game, just do internet, wordprocessing, and some video viewing.

No way to sell it on ebay now. I had the intention of buying one and possibly keeping it, with the option to sell if needbe but now I'm stuck with one. :D Oh crap I'm dead.

OK, here's an honest review:

Yes, using this monitor at anything other than 1600 x 1200 will certainly cause a drop in quality. Whether it "sucks" is a matter of opinion.

For games, you definitely want to play at 1600 x 1200. Some caveats: Older games don't support that mode, and even if the game DOES support it, you still need a powerful computer to play at such a high resolution. That said, playing a game at 1600 x 1200 is truly the only way to fly.

It took me a little while to get used to having my desktop in 1600 x 1200. Text is much smaller than you're used to. However, I don't find myself squinting, and now I can't live without it because of the increased desktop real estate. (You'll be surprised how many more things you can have going at once.)

So, the bottom line: I think this is a fantastic deal, and there's no way we are going to see 20" monitors at this quality at this price for a long time to come. It's a great investment. HOWEVER: If you don't have a strong video card/computer set up, and can't play games at 1600 x 1200, you may not want to go this route. LCDs only deliver peak digital resolution in their native modes. A smaller 17" or 19" screen would be better in that case, I'd say.

(But again.... you'll get a better computer SOME DAY, right? This is one hell of a good investment.)

By the way: I hope all those ebay jerks get their asses handed to them.
