Just received mine today (Wed).

October batch. A00.

No dead pixels. No white light at top right of screen.

I already have two 2000FPs, and in comparison, the 2001FP is much brighter than the 2000FPs. As for games, it rocks, but then again, I never really thought the 2000FP was streaky, even in first-person shooters.

I'd have to say the 2001FP is a winner.

I ordered mine around 5PM Eastern on Saturday and mine is still in production as well. Oh well, I'll muddle through until it gets here -- not much choice. :p

Uh oh. I got a oct 2003 monitor with no bad pixels but I played a dvd full screen and noticed the excess light in the top right. Not as bad as the pics posted by getsome but still noticeable.

this is while playing a DVD with the room lights off. During Normal windows desktop, I can not notice it at all. Crap everything else is fine. I guess I will play with for a few days and decide whether to return it. Just afraid to waste time and get another monitor with the same issue.

I'm still in pre-fill as well. I look at it this way... any delays increases the chance I get the theoretically more desirable later production run. This assumes that later models are more problem free (our sample size is way too small to draw that conclusion) and that they fill orders in at least a rough order of production.

Fingers are crossed!

I noticed someone comment about the "GRAY" model. I am also receiving this model. Does this mean Midnight Gray (black) or gray gray?

Yep I have oct 03 with no pixel probs it looks like, but the lightness on top right is there for sure. I'm not sweating it right now. If it turns out that its something that not all of the monitors have, I'll go for an exchange until I get one with no problems. If its not something that can be fixed, I am not going to sweat it, the monitor is still great and not worth returning because of that IMO for me at least.

Some game tests for those who have been wondering:

Quake 3: No tearing or any problems. Call of Duty: No issues there either. KoTOR: No Issues. Soldier of Fortune 2: some tearing issues. Unreal 2003: No issues. Halo: loaded and looked fine in space ship, but didnt use any plasma weapons and didnt go outdoors. Hope that helps.

Bubbafish mentions that the 2001fp is much brighter than the 2000fp. For those of you who have the so-called "white spot" issue, have you tried turning the brightness down?

I have the Hitachi 174 and one of the concerns that reviewers had was it was bright. From the factory, it came at 100% brightness. Turn it down and it looks fine. With the brightness at 100%, you'll get the white spots to show up because the light leaks through... Perhaps this is a similar issue and the monitor can be darkened without affecting color, contrast and brightness and get rid of those "white spots"...

Give it a shot before sending it back to Dell...

Thats strange that a couple of you have ordered earlier on in the week and havn't got it shipped yet. I ordered mine on the 9th and it shipped(stage: In Transit to Local Carrier) on the 10th.

I ordered on the 5th, shipped 12-8, received it yesterday - Oct '03 mfg date.

No dead pixels and I am not noticing the brightness issue.

What bugs me is the lag in Q3....Descent & U2 are fine, but the low refresh rate in Q3 makes the game look terrible....anyone know a work around?

Those of you getting lighter bars and/or grainy picture what input are you using(vga/dsub I hope)? Those of you that aren't seeing any what input are you using(dvi)? Anandtech said dells analog to digital process (for dsub) was really poor, and this could mean that those of you who wanna keep this lcd should think about picking up a DVI videocard.

I was planning on getting one of these around the time doom3 comes out. My 2000fp will probably suck with the low light and all the gray colors it will have. Even this 2001fp will have problems, I also hope something else better will be out by then. But in any other game today I don't notice a thing with my 2kfp...

LCD's don't have a refresh rate due to the fact that the pixels are controlled by direct electrical current through dedicated transistors, and not by a scanning electronic beam that "refreshes" the screen at a certain frequency per second.

O.K.....Since that digital refresh response of the LCD is lower than the playable game rate, it looks like I need to find a new favorite. :|

There still are refresh rates with LCDs, if you would notice at 1600x1200 this LCD can only do it 60hz... Might as well put vsync on when your playing at 60hz (that's what I do). It helps cut down on tearing which can be annoying to me at times.. So even if you have a 1ms panel, you'd still be only getting 60hz from the videocard...

and set "com_maxfps 60" should also help. Like I said, I played q3 for about 20 min and had no problems. I never play that game anymore anyways but its still a fun one to load up every so often...

Hey Alex, were actually talking about the 2001 FP, not the 2000. Glad to hear your 2000FP is working out great though! The 2001 is supposed to have a couple improvements over the 2000...
