I ordered mine on Friday, and then cancelled it on monday afternoon because it didn't have any progress.

So yesterday night (monday) I re-ordered it and they shipped it in the afternoon today.

Interesting eh? Either they think I have a chance of cancelling it again and they ship it asap, or they really use a LIFO system.

Funny stuff.

This is a good deal and it is very tempting. However, for just a little more you can get two 17 inch, 16ms LCDs with DVI (e.g., the NEC 1760NX at Dell Home -- no tax and use a stackable $ off coupon). Unless you are buying two of the 2001FPs, or you really need the extra 3 inches on one screen, wouldn't it be better to get two 17 inchers?

Not necessarily. Some people prefer a single monitor set up (myself for example). Further, the 2001FP has more inputs and can function as other things as well as a monitor. Finally, I would rather have lots of pixel real estate on ONE screen than a little more pixel real estate on two screens

Ok, got my 2001fp today. I ordered it to replace my Planar PL201M, which is also a 20.1", 1600x1200 LCD. I was only upgrading for the extra inputs, and the 16ms response compared to the 25 of my planar.

The picture appears much more "grainy" than my pl201m. I'm unhappy w/ the choices and options I have to adjust the picture/color of the monitor. Did I mention that colors are extremely grainy?

So, I load up my favorite game, and wow it's a wonder on the eyes, no ghosting at all. This is a game w/ pretty much all of the screen black. Holy crap what do I see...a large area in the upper right that is whitish, with some area extremely white, and other a little. Now, I'm not saying that it's white, but it's tinted, but it's considerably tinted. I've never seen something like this before, and it looks horrible. I start messing w/ settings...doesn't go away. I start talking on AIM w/ my friend who also purchased this lcd, and guess what??? HIS IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. Tried playing a dvd in full screen...same thing...huge whitish area up top. I'm scared that these 2001fp's have a manufacturer's defect. Here's to hoping that someone else notices this, and can figure out a solution.

My advice to people still thinking about purchasing...possibly hold off a while until this issue is cleared up.

This is disturbing... Has anyone else observed this?

Can you take screenshots? Would screenshots even show this?

I'll take some screenshots and see if it'll show up, but I somehow doubt it will. I can try taking a picture with my digital camera. I had two finals tomorrow for graduate school tomorrow, so time is limited, but I'll try to get them taken sometime tonight.

Try to take that picture with the lights off, that way we can see exactly what's going on. Hope you have a good enough digicam to handle this...

thx

Screenchots won't show it. And unless it really noticeable no camera shot will either. This sucks to hear.

Ok, like I said I don't have a ton of time to devote to this. I'm sure I could have gotten the pic to come out better, but I can't be messing with this forever. I just loaded up my Body Shots DVD, and set it to full screen. I've circled the part that I'm talking about, which is more pronounced than is really pictured, which is due to it being hard to take a picture of.

Picture of my 2001fp

Also, I got my friend who is having the exact same problem with the exact same monitor as I pointed out above to try and take a picture of his as well.

Picture of friend's 2001fp

As soon as I get finished with my tests, Dell is going to have an extremely unhappy customer on the phone.

Do you mean this? It was mentioned in the AT review of the pre-production 2001FP...

I never noticed this problem with the 2000FP, which I've been using for almost a year, and I absolutely love it. (And sadly I have to get rid of it for monetary reasons... :( )

I read that review too. However, the problems they talked about, I quickly wrote off on the basis that they tested a preproduction model. I mean, I can't believe that Dell expects me to think that this is acceptable.
