If that one is a Cuda, then what are they other 2?

The other two are also faster, they have faster seek times, so why not order them?

<< Do you guys think this 80 gig 7200 RPM hard drive is a good deal? It is $179-20%-$25=$118. This is different from the other listings for DELL deals because it is 7200 RPM. I ordered two separate orders last night to use the $25 of $150 twice and it already shipped when I woke up.

EDIT: Good if your in CA because no sales tax going through HOME&HOME OFFICE <--I think...tax was zero on my order confirm.
>>

Man I want to get this.... but where are you getting the $25 off discount from? I see the 20% is automaticly deducted but wondering about where the $25
one comes from.

Thanx

I ordered the 80GB 7200 rpm drive today.. We'll see what happens..

I went with this one: 340-7077.

Will let you know what I get.. I am assuming this one is the Western Digital. WD's website lists an average seek time of 8.9 secs.. The Dell site lists 9.0 secs.. So looks like WD.

I got it for $118.20 shipped. Great deal on an 80GB hard drive..
I used e-bates for an extra 2% off.. final after ebates: $115.84

Thanks!

Thanx for the info :) Got it ordered. $118.20 total for a 80gb Seagate is a hell of a deal! I have 2-40s and a 20 now, very nice drives.

<< How did you guys not pay tax, mine always comes up at $127 >>

It depends on which state your ordering from.

Polotek147,

actually I'm getting ready to build a new machine, and I am gonna sell my Andara bareboner to my sister. That andara has turned out to be a pretty good little machine. I suppose you could find a way to mount a second drive vertically, or place it in the 2nd 5¼ bay with an adapter (if that is possible)

Yes, I noticed the vertical mount...what specs are you thinking of putting in your new system?

If you have not yet found the $25 off coupon, see the signature for the person who started this thread.

<< are you adding this to your Andara case? If so, where are you going to put it? >>

My case is kind of full, so the last drive I put in I mounted on 5 1/4 drive rails which raised the drive about 1/2 inch off the ground. I then placed this in the bottom of my case and connected it to my Promise Ultra66 card. It works fine and doesn't take up a drive bay. For further anchoring, you might use duct tape to make sure the drive rails don't slide around.

I procrastinated forever about the 60GB deal because I could not find anything I wanted for $11. This 80GB deal came up and I finally jumped. Personally I hope it is WD or Maxtor/Quantum. I have heard too many bad things about IBM drives. Even a Seagate would be OK.

80GB for $118 shipped equals $1.47 per GB. This is damn cheap, especially considering the drive is 7200 rpm. I just checked Pricegrabber and the lowest I saw there was around $1.75 per GB and this didn't include possible shipping costs. I went through Ebates so my cost is actually $2.37 less than listed above.

Pay,
Clear your cookies and close all browser windows. Then give it a shot. It worked for me.

I hope I don't get a Western Digital; I've had nothing but problems with them (but WD RMA is easy!)

My DirecTiVo is looking forward to an upgrade!! :D

I really don't want to order the HD, but it's so tempting. It's either this or a dvd player for my tv. I'm leaning toward the dvd player. Must not order drive. Arghh.

1) Does anyone else have their shipment listed as shipped, but when you click on the details, it says "In transit to carrier" rather than give a tracking number?

2) Again - if anyone here receives a Cuda IV 80gig, PLEASE PM or E-MAIL ME. I know the Cuda is slower, but I need a very quiet system and its the quietest drive per performance. Basically, if you don't care about the extremeities of noise, this would be a better trade for YOU, since the other drives are much better performers.

Pay, the 20% is still working. I just followed the link to the thread you copied above and was able to add the HD to my cart, it gave me 20% off, then add the $25 coupon to get $60.80 off of the $179 drive. Too bad I had already gotten in on the 60 gig and missed out on the 80 gig.

Call 1-800-915-3355, press 4 to Check Order Status, press 2 on the next menu, punch in your Customer Number when it asks, Punch in your Order Number when it asks, and get ready to write down the Tracking Number for UPS.

Not sure what it will be, but good deal anyway.

Pay, the deal is still good on the 80 gb, I just tried it.
Hard to decide to pick up one of these as well.
