I was about to buy but when I went to put in my info it said my total would be $110 and not $97.... I decided not to get it for now, I havn't filled up my 80 gigger I got for christmas.

I don't want it unless its' a Maxtor, I have an unfair bias against Seagate and WD (every one I've ever owned has failed, none of my Maxtors has).

I've never even heard of "Bens Bargains" before reading this thread. I was looking to buy a hard drive after I saw a thread on "20% off dell peripherals" so I started shopping around and posted what I bought.

Wonder how this drive (the 0c503) compares to the other ~60GB drive dell has, also for $139?

Dell part # is 340-1929; MFR 4c724. No specs on speed other than 7200 RPM ATA100, 6 heads, 34500 TPI. States 61.5 GB Formatted, vs 60.0 GB formatted on the 0c503.

Dell said my HD would ship 1/2. Then they said it would ship 1/9. Today, an email said it would ship 1/16. I looked online, where they said it would ship 1/10.

Meanwhile, I ordered a Sony Clie on 12/2. They said it would not shop until 12/26. Around 12/19, I signed up for their "order tracking" service so they would tell me via email when it shipped. On 12/20, the Clie arrived. On 12/31, they sent me an email telling me the unit had shipped. So much for order tracking.

Does anyone know for sure yet if the the 60G drive is a Maxtor or a WD?

Don't really need the drive but heck man 60G for $97 is something anyone needs! Besides I'm about 3 weeks away from reformmating and I'm DYING to RAID my 60G Maxtor 7.2K drive and this drive I just ordered should be a decent mate for it! hmm 4x60 RAID oh man... drool.

I just checked on my order, after the estimated ship time moved from 1/3 to 1/10,

and it appears that it had shipped late today (1/2)

I know the gamepad had shipped separately (12/27), I ought to get that by the end of this week..

I've no particular bias against HDD manufacturers, except perhaps IBM...The 75GXP was just a little too unreliable for my liking, and I suppose I'm not incredibly enthralled by their 60GXP series either. Only other manufacturers I've really used in the past have been Quantum and Western Digital, only drive that's gone bad out of that bunch was a Quantum Fireball SE 6.4 gig series, and that was after about 4-5 years of service, pretty much 24-7 heavy usage; That's somewhat better, anyway..
