Smoking Joker...I have to disagree.
I've had the coolpix 880 for over a year now, and its the best digital camera I've used by far. The camera is very complicated and the battery life sucks and there are a host of other little things people keep bringing up. If you want a "point and shoot" digital, this is not the right camera for you.
The manual is like an encyclopedia, but if you read the whole thing, you realize how powerful the camera is. There are over 20 individual settings when you take pics. Low light pics come out fantastic (and sounds weird, but it comes out better without flash-but the shutter is open longer so have a tripod or a steady hand, and a slow moving object) and bright images are also easily compensated. It took my about 1 week to become comfortable with the camera, 2 weeks to become really at ease. I think u guys can buy great cameras, but for 200-300 bucks, you can't go wrong. I paid $700 for mine (bought it when it first came out) and I don't regret it. Took it to italy and all over the country. Has taken lots of abuse and still works great. Get a case though people, the LCD in the back scratches. And if you get a rechargable battery, the short battery life is a non issue. Have fun with the camera. You will not regret it.
