I tried to order 2000 but they said they could only fulfill 1432, so i said ok, total was $5728 + $4.95 shipping woohooo, im gonna make a ton of money (guess this kills the deal for every1 else though HAHHAHAHHAA :) :) :)), I ordered via the phone number to verify price as will they oked the price, but I also told them that it was probably a mistake and to check with management after processing my order

Some older laptops like my Dell Latitude PII 400 (forgot the model #) only takes 256MB stick with 16 chips on it instead of 8 chips. Being PC100 or PC133 is not much of an issue, but there are a lot more PC100 256MB SODIMM in a market with 16 chips than PC133, and that's why it seems that way.

For example, PNY 256MB PC100 SODIMM has 16 chips while their PC133 version (like this one) has 8 chips. Only, PC133 with 16 chips I have seen in retail has been Centon PC133 256MB SODIMM.

Althogh I do not think this applies to all laptops, a quick way to determine if this PNY stick works in your laptop is to find out if it takes 512MB SODIMM stick or not (or how many SODIMM sockets it has and what the maximum memory capacity is). If it has max capacity of 1GB and has two sticks, it takes two 512MB sticks with 16 chips on each. And if that's the case, it will also take two sticks of this PNY PC133 with 8 chips on each.

On the other had, if your laptop's max memory capacity is 512MB with 2 sockets, it will need two sticks of 16 chips 256MB in order to get to 512MB. If you try to use this 8 chip 256MB sticks, it will only recognize and use 128MB each from them.

I got a small order in just for the sake of having it / using it for trade.

If I actually GET it for that price, and you didn't, let me know. For the sincere folks who actually *need* it for their laptop, I'm willing to work out my cost + shipping for a few pieces. I didn't buy it to profit anyway.

dang, I thought it was a good deal to order from J&R to get cheaper shipping, but now, Amazon seems like a better option because they would give out GC's for pricing mistake.

By the time I got there, J&R's site no longer listed the deal. Ordered through Amazon, and got 2 confirmation emails, one showing the $4 each, and total, after shipping of $43, and one showing the correction, $32 each, but the total's still $43.20. Dunno if I'm going to get them (or at what price :/) but I think this just died.

According to several independent market research agencies, last monday was the first day ever in history that more DDR based laptops than SDRAM based laptops were sold :)

They only had 1432 left because I ordered 5000 which came to quite exactly the max on credit card. Shipping was still only $4.95 :)

for those who ordered from J&R, look at the bottom of the confirmation email ...

"Please note that all orders are carefully reviewed and are subject to our approval. Although this rarely happens, we reserve the right to cancel any order. We are not responsible for typographical errors. "

They can't actually charge you more than they quoted can they? I mean won't they just cancel it? I ordered straight from J and R ....

Seriously though, they will just cancel the order 9 times out of 10...but this could depend on the company.
It has happened before.
